Okay I have a some what unique form of art... chainmaille jewelry. I figured since others had shared I would too.... Okay here are a few samples: This one is called Flower: This is a closeup pic of large ring Round Mail: Here is the full picture: These are some finished pieces I have for sale: European 4-1: European 4-1 with a charm on it: Byzantine: Closeup of a Box Chain: Box Chain full shot: Full Persian closeup: Full Persian full shot: Full Persian Dragonscale which I decided not to close since it looked funky being flat: This is the other side of that one: Half Byzantine Plus One: Closer up: These are all the pieces that I am wearing : Flower: European 4-1 with 2 additional rows, closeup: The full bracelet: Full Persian Dragonscale closeup: Full Piece: The other side of the Full Persian close: Full piece of the other side: I'm not sure if you can tell that well, but one side has a full row of rings but the other side is a ring in every other space. I couldn't decided which I liked better so which ever way I turn it it sorta looks like a different bracelet. Persian 3-1 closeup: Persian 3-1 full bracelet: This is a very small, delicate Round Mail: And this last one is a piece my brother asked for, he plans on weaving leather string through it... I think he is going for the gauntlet look: European 4-1 with four extra rows closeup: Full piece:

I had forgotten all about you doing those. But I finally get to see them so thats cool. Looks like you spent a lot of time on them. I like the ones that have the color in them and that Byzantine style one since it looks nothing like what I would think normal maille to look like. You should post the links to those sites again in here too since I am pretty sure your original post on them is long gone.

Sure.... This one is really good for instructions and sometimes pictures of all the most used, basic designs: Derakon's LibraryThis next one has thousands of designs. They have them from different parts of the world, as well as tons of hybrids or variations that some very creative people came up with. There are pics and instructions for most: M.A.I.L.- Maille Artisans International LeagueAnd this last one does have an idea gallery, but it is mostly a place to buy the rings and tools needed for the craft: The Ring LordThere yah go Yeah a lot of people prefer the colored pieces... although to be honest there are a few problems with the color ones. The only color rings I have yet used (because they are far less expensive) are aluminum. So that makes them a LOT weaker than the stainless steel that I usually use. Also no matter what metal you use the color will eventually fade a bit. You should have seen how vibrant the purple was in the 4-1 piece when I first made it. That is why I try to only use color to accent a piece since if the stainless steel is surrounding it than it will protect it a bit. But I also NEVER take my jewelry off, I always sleep and bath with them on. So they will wear out for me MUCH faster than those who remove their jewelry. I just wish you could have seen the detail a bit better on some of those pics... no matter what I did they blurred slightly. You'd be amazed at some of the designs... particularly the Persian Dragonscale if you could see how intricate it is. In fact here is a better pic for you: Persian Dragonscale#btw# I am NOT in any way trying to sell my work by posting it here on the forum! But.... considering how many people I know BEGGED for pieces after seeing them on me... I do take orders so don't feel out of line if you want to ask. Ohh and one more thing... a similar piece to this one is my next project: HeadpieceA friend of mine is getting married next year and she want to wear that headpiece... although she wants only a single stone hanging from the center and she wants it to be a teardrop emerald. -+-Win32##Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.2##1152 × 864##1-+-

The head pieces would be really neat, although I did find the maille bra to be neater. Is there any reason they do not make color pieces in non aluminum?
If you are having trouble with the images blurring then try exposing the images longer. I assume you are using that nice camera you got a while back so I would assume it has manual control. Over Christmas I took some pics of silverware for a relative and she needed the detail on the company logos so I put the silverware on a black backdrop and I had to do a few shots for each because of blurring, but I would have to be exposing them for about 30 seconds or so. So if your camera has like a remote or anything that would help too since a slight bump in a long exposure will lead to blurring, a tripod also will help, or setting the camera on a hard surface.

Yeah I bet they could come out much better if I could figure out the manual controls.... but stuff like that is usually beyond me... I need to get my husband to learn about the camera and teach me. So far I have just used the auto function LOL -+-Win32##Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.2##1152 × 864##1-+-

Yeah that would probably be why then. Try looking online in help forums for it, people should be able to explain it all simply. You could probably let the camera do all the focus automatically and just control the exposure yourself.
How long do you think it would take to do one of the head pieces?

Oh duh you asked a question... LOL #duh#
Ummm color comes in Aluminum, Enameled Copper, Niobium and Titanium.
You don't want to use copper because the color will chip instead of just fading and then it will turn your skin green.
Niobium I really want to try but it is a good deal more expensive, I think overall it would make a better piece though. Aluminum is $2.45 oz. and the Niobium is $8.85 oz.
And the titanium is really nice but the color choices are a lot less and the are a lot subtler... it is just personal preference.

The headpiece would probably take about 5 hours.... it will take more though since I have done nothing of that type yet... so it will take a tad bit of experimenting to get it just right. Each individual part of it is easy it is just assembling, sizing and lining up that will take more time for adjusting as needed.

Okay I have a few more for you... A simple Spiral bracelet I made my daughter: Here is a sample that Alucard did: This is One Hour Less Sleep and the way in which you have to add each ring is soooo hard I can't even do it and that is also why he never did more than a sample: And here are some finished pieces that he did: Persian 3-1... this gives you a better idea of the design since it is bigger than mine: Turkish Round: A black and red Persian 3-1: A much better picture of a bigger Persian Dragonscale: A black and silver Round Mail: There is also one more that Alucard is redoing at the moment... it is one he made for our daughter but the color was REALLY faded so he is redoing it... when he is done I will post that one... it is everyone's favorite.

Those are absolutely gorgeous! I am envious. Do they get heavy? I want a matching necklace and bracelet. Am thinking I could probably mount a wirewrapped cab to them or even a caged stone or two.

Well they are definitely heavier than your average jewelry but not much and you get used to the weight very quickly and won't even notice. For instance I have the Flower bracelet and the 4-1 with the purple in it on my left wrist and I have the small Round Mail, the Persian Dragonscale and the small 3-1 on my right wrist and I don't even think about them being there most of the time. I also make mine a lot smaller than a lot of people like since I have teenie wrists anything too large around looks wicked clunky on me.
I like the idea of adding stones... but I would suggest either hanging one as a pendant or charm or if you did one with a loop on either end you could have it be the center peice of a bracelet or choker. Not sure if mounting would look good or not. I actually made a matching necklace and earing set for my mother and a separate bracelet too. She loves them. I have a ton of cool earing ideas just haven't done them yet.
