I must say, I like the taste in music here. I never thought I would see Nightwish among those listed, but that just makes me all the happier. I must also say that I like almost everything deon listed, heck, I like almost everything listed so far. But I have a few of my own favorites to add.
Demon Hunter- One Thousand Apologies Skillet- pretty much everything they have H.I.M.- again, pretty much every song Lacuna Coil- the Comalies cd is very good Thousand Foot Krutch- The Art of Breaking and Faith, Love and Happiness
I could go on, but I really don't feel like writing an uber long post.

I picked up Nightwish and am trying a couple of downloads.... contemplating on collecting them now.. My wife though is not a heavy rocker... I am LOL... though she is the vocalist of our make-shift band But there are so many... can any of you guys recommend an all time favorite of Nightwish? I like Lacuna Coil too but I'm trying to download one artist at a time LOL. So far what I like in Nightwish over and over again is WIsh I had an Angel I just don't want to end up downloading everything and liking only half of it -+-Win32##Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0##1024 × 768##1-+-

Wish I Had An Angel is one of my favorites as well. If you want the songs of theirs that will be more along those lines then try Nemo, 10th Man Down, Astral Romance (Probably the non re-recorded one), Bare Grace Misery, Bless The Child, Crownless, Dark Chest Of Wonders, Dead Gardens, Dead To The World, Devil And The Dark Ocean, Elvenpath, End Of All Hope, Fantasmic, Gethsemane, Live To Tell The Tale, Moondance, Nightquest, Over The Hills And Far Away, Passion And The Opera, Phantom Of The Opera, Planet Hell, Sacrement Of Wilderness, She Is My Sin, Slaying The Dreamer, Stargazers, Symphony Of Destruction (its a live cover where one of the other members sings but still is cool), The Kinslayer, The Pharaoh Sails To Orion, The Wayfarer, Wanderlust, Where Were You Last Night, Wishmaster.
So yeah that is a lot but I have all of their songs on my computer so I could quickly go through them all to list pretty much any that are not to quiet. The problem with me is I like pretty much all of their songs but if I had to choose a few it would be Wishmaster, Where Were You Last Night, 10th Man Down, Nemo, and Over The Hills And Far Away. Also if you have the chance to get some of their videos you should. The one for Nemo is really good, Wish I Had An Angel Is Also, although that song was from the Alone In The Dark movie and since you dont like it you may not like the video. A more quiet song but a cool video is for Sleeping Sun (2005 version of it though) and also somebody made a really good one using footage from the Pearl Harbor movie to Wishmaster.
Overall I would say get them all and then decide which you like or not. I normally like louder songs but the ones they have that are not I like and they also have some instrumental ones that I really like. Some of their songs are also quiet so maybe you wife would like them.
Also some bands you might want to check out if you like female fronted bands look into Within Temptation (Stand My ground is really good, also Mother Earth although is is more quiet), other bands are Xandria, Visions Of Atlantis, Theatre Of Tragedy, or going louder we have Kittie and Otep, and louder still Arch Enemy.
Pretty much all the bands are metal so not sure if that is what you like or not. But since Nightwish is metal and you like them I assume you do, although you did say hard rocker and hard rock is different from metal. So if you want any other bands let me know. I have a lot of male fronted bands I like that can be similar to Nightwish or ones that sing about cool things that are Sacredish and have cool videos with knights and such.

I like TSO, they combine classical songs with current instruments well.

Big fan of the ones you mentioned fiery, just didn't list them. I prefer to list bands that I listen to that may be more unknown. The ones you mentioned have all made mainstream music at this point.
edit for spelling errors.

Personally my favorite Nightwish song is Sleeping Sun, I loved the video for it too. But I also am not really into metal, so this one being a lot softer and a bit more melodic is why I like it sooo much. -+-Win32##Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.1##800 × 600##1-+-

There are two videos for Sleeping Sun since they redid the song in 2005. I assume the video you like is the new one though since it is the singer Tarja walking around on a battle field.

Ok good, the older one was boring, just Tarja walking around some mountains and random shots of the sky. Probably because it is a really old song of theirs so when they were not as popular they could only spend like 50 bucks to make a video.

Another video and song you might like is by a band called Era and the song The Mass. It is all a medieval style to the video and it is really cool and the lyrics sound latin like.

well, late last night (actually this morning ... but you know what i mean) i was REEEALLY bored and so while i was surfing i came across ABC's news website which has a bunch of videos and stuff... so i watched some of them and came across something you guys might be interested in... it's "lala.com", and it's a website that is in some ways similar in premise to I-TUNES, except they have like @ least THREE TIMES the amount of music as I-TUNES, and their means by which you obtain music are radically different... instead of paying 99cents to download one song, you get A WHOLE CD for just 99cents... plus 14cents for shipping... see what you do is you join the site, (actually it's currently an invitation only site, so in order to get an invitation you request one, and they are trying to answer as many invitations as they can...) ...once you have joined, you make a list of all of the CD's that YOU OWN, and another list of all the CD's that YOU WANT, and then when someone would like one of your CD's you get a special envelope and you put it in there and then it gets mailed to that person, and when you find a CD you want, then the exact opposite happens... oh yeah, and the site itself is completely FREE, you aren't ever charged anything until you actually recieve your requested CD (*which as i mentioned earlier costs 99cents + 14cents shipping*) the one thing that made this site stand out to me was that with it's immense selection of music you don't just have the popular stuff, but a lot of the lesser-known artists as well... and it seems that's what interests you guys the most anyways, so i figure you'd probably like the site... OH YEAH! and DEON, seeing as how you were looking for all of those songs, but didn't want to pay for all of them and only end up liking maybe half of them, this way it would be as if you were only buying one song, except you get the entire CD for the equivalent of 1 song on I-TUNES... so hopefully this'll help you out a bit...
