One of my favorite authors is Elizabeth Haydon. Her Symphony of Ages series is the most imaginative and well-written fantasy series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. #dragon#
Another of my favorite authors is Robin Hobb. Her Liveship Traders series is very interesting reading. So is The Tawny Man series. Wonderfully different and entertaining. #butterfly#

I have to admit that I am not familiar with either of those.... Okay here are some of my favorites: - Anne Rice
- Bentley Little
- Edward Lee
- Richard Laymon
- Dean Koontz
- Phyllis A. Whitney
- J.K. Rowling
- Marion Zimmer Bradley
- Michael Romkey
And the list keeps going LOL... can you tell how much I love to read? I have to give a lot of credit to my husband though... he introduced me to all the darker authors on that list... and I fell in love with them all. They are genuis' of the macabre. #daisy# #btw# I take it that you are liking the new cute smilies I added?

Bentely Little is great.... I wrote a whole review on him at another forum.... I will have to copy it over.... Ed Lee and Richard Laymon are like Dean Kootz to the 1000th degree in the macabre. And you already know who J.K. Rowling is even if you don't realize it..... Harry Potter Wow I am suprised you know Phyllis though... noone seems to know here because most of her books are old... and out of print. I have a hobbie of collecting her books... I think I have all but 10 or 15 now.... and she wrote a LOT of books

My authors are well-known since I don't have the time to explore the text world as I used to during highschool years. Mostly my favorite authors are those of my profession but for the non-text books: Dan Brown (so lame ) John Grisham Tess Geritsen Michael Case Dean Koontz Robert Ludlum Stephen King (I have a bunch of these since age 10) Paolo Coehlo (if I spelled that right) Jose P. Rizal

Well Wolfe, as for Whitney, remember that I'm probably at least twice your age and her books more than likely weren't out of print when I was younger! Anyway, love the Harry Potter books, too. More: R. A. Salvatore Stephen R. Donaldson Julie E. Czerneda Robert A. Heinlein Terry Brooks Anne McCaffrey Larry Niven

LOL you are actually one year short of twice my age #butterfly#
Ahhh you like a lot of the authors my brother is into... all fantasy. It's funny... I should really try some of them out cause I LOVE kids fantasy books, like Harry Potter and Narnia and such (I am so excited that they are doing movies of those now too)... but I never really tried reading any adult ones.

AREA, who's Pressfield? Guess I could look, but would rather ask. Hitchcock is great, too. Haven't read much in the way of macabre for a few years. Lately, have been focused mostly on Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Spiritual stuff - mostly kinda New Agey stuff. #butterfly#
Love these little smilies!

Steven Pressfield writes books about really old battles. He is the one who wrote the Gates Of Fire book about Thermoplyae that is my favorite book ever, also he has one about the Peloponnesian Wars, another on Alexander The Great, one about the Amazonians, etc.
And I will add I like Dan Brown as well, looking forward to The Solomon Key, and I also like Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman who do fantasy stuff. I think the Dragonlance series is their most famous although I have not read it, but I liked a short one they did called Rose Of The Prophet.

Weis and Hickman are great, too. They did the Dragonlance Chronicles, the War of Souls, The Death Gate Cycle and the Sovereign Stone Trilogy. Weis also wrote a trilogy called the Dragonvarld.
More favorites: Terry Goodkind David & Leigh Eddings C.J. Cherryh Andre Norton Kate Elliott J.R.R. Tolkein Melanie Rawn Robert Jordan Michael Moorcock Chelsea Quinn Yarbro (She wrote a series of historical horror novels about vampires )
