Duh, how can I forget Tolkein? I should unpack all my books so I can remember all the ones I have enjoyed over the years, but we are keeping a lot of things packed right now since we will be moving to a house soon, hopefully.

Ah, books. I am glad to see such a diverse group of authors here. I dont have much of a list of my own, more because I dont know the authors of what I read more than me not reading. Robert Jordan is one of my favorite authors for his Wheel of Time series, Anne Rice is on the list too, although she has stopped writing her vampire novels since she "found god."

#arghh# Yeah I hate that!!! I really want to know what happened with Lestat!!
I don't see why "finding God" changes people so much, in this type of manner I mean.... so what if you have religion now... what did God take away your talent and imagination? I don't think so! So keep writing!

ssssshhhhh, dont let the secret out.
I never understood why people change so much either, although sometimes it can be for the better, but times like this just dont make sense.

LOL it's actually funny.... long ago, and I forget which friend, but one of our friends said that with Alucard being so tall and having long hair and what not that he reminded them of all the pictures of Jesus that they have seen, except darker. Then you add his personally, which he has a dark sense of humor a lot of the time... so they started calling him Bajesus, short for Black Jesus. Okay anyway, back on topic, well yeah I totally see religion changing people in good ways and the large extents sometimes, but it should NOT change how you write, or if you are and artist how you paint, etc. That idea is just ridiculous to me. The whole Harry Potter is spreading the idea of witchcraft is totally ridiculous too!! I don't know how much any of you know about the real pagan/witchcraft religions, but they are NOTHING, AT ALL, WHATSOEVER like Harry Potter!! People really, really ought to know at least the basics of something before they go spouting off at the mouth about it! Goddamnit!! I HATE ignorant people! Not even mentioning the fact that it is called FICTION for a reason! #bash# #worship# #voodoo# #dunce# #curse# -+-Win32##Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.1##800 × 600##1-+-

I am assuming you meant to say that religion should not change how you write, paint, etc?
People are silly though, they take whatever is mainstream as being accurate, kind of like a bandwagon fallacy I suppose.

Yeah, a lot of people do tend to spout nonsense without checking the facts first. And no, Harry Potter is nothing like any pagan or witchcraft belief systems that I have ever encountered. Actually, most of the people I have ever met who were involved with either belief system didn't even believe in the existance of evil or magic in the Harry Potter sense. Hmmm... Maybe we should start a thread about this.

Haha, and hall and I both know someone who thinks that way about Harry Potter. My grandma maybe? She is a sweet lady but so ignorant it drives me mad.

Yeah, she is bad about that. So is your Grandpa. Now they're into the no violence of any sort thing. Won't even watch Indiana Jones movies because of it. They took all of the stations off their satellite except the Angel Network, local stations and music. Have to practically tape my husband's mouth shut sometimes. Especially when he starts spouting stuff about how people misunderstand some religions and how he thinks a lot of what's in the Bible is misinterpreted. LOL

I just read an article on how DAn Brown was being sued over copyright infigment on the Davinci Code, but he won the case so that is good. news.aol.com/entertainment/articles?id=20060406124509990002&ncid=NWS00010000000001It would have sucked if he didnt since I would imagine that would have moved the movie date back and maybe even keep the third book from being released. Has anybody read the book that he was accused of stealing info from? I figure if it is anything close to the DaVinci Code it should be an interesting read. -+-Win32##Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0##1024 × 768##1-+-

I have read it.... it is called Holy Blood Holy Grail... it was okay. It had some stuff like in the DaVinci code and a lot about the Templar Knights and alot of other really crazy stuff on the history and theories of the religion. It was really, really interesting. But it was written like a textbook not a novel so it was pretty slow reading. I usually HATE anything that reads like a textbook. Now if they had all the same info. but written it more like a novel or story of the history rather than just a bunch of facts than I would have LOVED it.

I might like it then, I like military books and paranormal things and many of those are not really stories since they are facts, although a novel is much longer then short stories. Do you know if the info is factual, or mostly made up like the DaVinci Code?
