Before I start my rant I kinda want to know how many people I will be offending... so:
What do you guys think of stem cell research?

I assume you are talking about abortion there... Abortion is not the only way (or even best way) of getting stem cells. When a fertilization is done in vitro you can take the beginning cells in the blastocyst that form the fetus (not the placenta ones though) and grow the stem cells in culture. You can also get them from the umbilical cord after birth.
In vitro fertilization is nice because the doctors take multiple eggs and fertilize them because there isn't a guarantee that 1 egg/1 sperm will become fertilized. They also take multiple fertilized eggs and place them in the mother's uterus because not all eggs will attach to the uterine lining. The reason we have ANY stem cell research right now is because of some in vitro fertilizations back before the NIH made some rules. There are privately funded stem cell research facilities as well right now, but it isn't associated with the gov't as it should be.

Oh I was just meaning that the two are so intertwined that some people believe they are the same thing. (The fertilization of any eggs with any sperm) Personally, its a part of my body that no one else has any rights to other than me even if it is an egg. Anyway, I think its a good thing, What is your rant? LOL

and I want my clones to do my work and biddings for me so I can be free to do fun things all the time, so my stance on this should be clear.

I'm a bit divided in this issue. First off, I am really against abortion as a procedure but rather it should only be treated as a necessity if it will endanger the life of the mother. I prefer termination than abortion. Second, abortion is not the only way as griff said, and in that aspect abortion should be ruled out completely as a means of harvesting the important stem cells. However, I fully support the research. I'm very excited about the diseases it can cure especially those that are linked to neurologic deficits. I admit that it might make rehab easier or perhaps totally abolish the need for it when the time comes. I will have no fits about that. Then again, this research has a long way to go before it makes significant and tangible progress. In my field there are a lot of skeptics and a helluva lot more religious/zealots. Let's all hope for the best for this research, it will definitely benefit mankind.
Personally though, I hope there's a better way.
