Area, I met some people who called themselves Odinists a while back. Studied the Futhark with them for awhile and listened to what they had to say, but they tended a little too much toward the dark side for me. My friend and I were always having to go around cleansing the energy from every room they were in (will tell you more if you want). I'm sure there are those who don't lean so far toward the dark side, but the leader of the group was one of those guys I wished I could have waved a hand at and dismissed him from the earth.
As for crystals and other minerals, I use them for many things as Whiplash said. Healing, information storage and retrieval, divination, energy amplification, etc. etc.
Griffman, I was raised Southern Baptist. I always thought Catholocism was a odd, but to each their own. My father is one of those who takes every word of the King James version of the Bible very literally... kind of scary actually. We have always fought tooth and nail over our beliefs especially since I don't believe in god the way he does nor heaven and hell the way he does. However, it gives him comfort and that's all that really matters. I just get really frustrated with him when he says stuff like "The greatest accomplishment of Satan is to convince people that he doesn't exist." Most churches in my experience do not spend money on things I think they should. I do not understand the need to have big, fancy churches. Why would their god care what building they were in? Makes no sense to me.

Griffman the above wasn't very nice... like I said in the first post please don't dump on the believers of a religion... you might want to edit it to some Catholics that I KNOW suck. Cause trust me not all Catholics are bad. There are some that yes are so into their religion that they try to convert anyone who will listen.. but that is true of almost all religions, I have even met a couple of Pagans that do it. But trust me they are not ALL bad. For instance I have an Aunt who is Catholic and she is great... she kinda knows some of my beliefs because my brother has a big mouth... he nearly gave my Grandmother a heart attack when he told them I was a Witch, which I don't call myself that I just call myself Pagan. But anyway my Aunt is great and never says more to a non-Catholic than "I will pray for you" and that isn't a general I will pray for your soul it is only in cases where the person is having a lot of problems in their life or if someone is really sick. Also and this is the kicker considering the beliefs of the Catholic faith... she is a lesbian to boot! But anyway.... So the craziest religions I can think of are Scientology and Mormonism... I had a Mormon as a boss and for a full year he tried to convert me arghh. He got so annoying once that I told him I COULDN'T be a Mormon because of my lifestyle and he tells me that it wouldn't be all that hard to quit smoking cigarettes, quit drinking coffee, never drink alcohol and that I can always take out my piercings and get my tattoos removed. Yeah right!!! I would NEVER do all that for a religion that is just insane! And if you want to know why I said Scientology just watch the South Park episode about it..... I swear that they were totally correct when it came to what they believe. For that matter watch the Mormon episode too. LOL funny funny stuff. ;D It would take too long probably to tell you my beliefs since they fall under way too many religions.

Hal that reminds me of my favorite Bible quote which was slightly altered for the movie Stigmata...
Stigmata Version: "Jesus said... the Kingdom of God is inside you, and all around you, not in mansions of wood and stone. Split a piece of wood... and I am there, lift a stone... and you will find me."
Bible Version: "Split a piece of wood; I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there." from the "Gospel of Thomas" (Verse 77)

I'm sorry if I offended anyone that happened to read it before I edited it. It's gone now, and I won't repeat it. #frown#

Exactly why I never understood the need to spend incredible amounts of money on huge buildings and things. Anyway Night Wolfe, even though it would take a long time, like my beliefs would, I would still like to hear them. You don't have to list them all at once, just a few at a time, or what you consider to be the major things. I'm sure if everyone keeps talking the way they are now, a lot will come out anyway. Oh, and I will agree about Scientology. Strangest thing I ever heard of. Had a friend once who was Mormon. Unlike some others that I met, she was very open-minded and handed me the Book of Mormon and told me to take most of it with a grain of salt. Just stories to get a point across.

well griff, you sound like an agnostic to me. thats what i was for a long time. if you dont already know, an agnostic is someone who doesnt really know what happened. you dont know if there is a god or not until you die. kinda also sounds like an atheist, no god, no devil, no heaven, when you die thats it, nothing after that.
as far as the taosim, or some other religion, i would need some more info to go on to describe what religion you identify with most.

Go ahead and expand Hal, sounds interesting. Also on crystals everybody who is here is using them. You computer has many crystals in it, the most important being your CPU which starts out as a large sylicone crystal grown from very pure sand and then has all the circuitry etched into it. There are also oscillators which are tiny crystals that vibrate to get certain frequencies. I also have a large orange Himilayain salt crystal I use as a night light if that counts....

I'll count the salt crystal Area. While a lot of different types of crystals and minerals can be lab created, they do not have the exact properties of natural ones as far as their use for healing techiques and the like. If anyone wants to know more about the metaphysical properties of different minerals, I call Melody's "Love is in the Earth" book(s) the "bible" of the metaphysical properties of minerals. I can also shed some light on quite a few of their properties since I've done some studying on them due my sensitivity to them. Perhaps another thread could be started if anyone cares to know more. As far as having to clear energy from rooms and such, due my sensitivity, I would go around sensing pockets of "negative" energy and even what we called vortexes that people open up (some unconsciously) and my friend would follow behind closing them and clearing the energy. Found out later that they were doing rituals and rites to harm others. Unfortunately, these kinds of things tend to come back to you which is what happened to the members of that group.

The tend to come back part does not sound like something good for them.

No, it wasn't. But, they did it to themselves!

So what group was it anyway then that was doing this? It seems weird that they would knowingly create negative energy and also need somebody to clean up after them. You would think that they would either not do it in the first place so they would not need a clean up done, or if they are evil then they would want it.

The Odinist group. I'm not too sure that they realized exactly how much negative energy they were attracting, but it surrounded them like a shroud. Ever met people who seemed to have a dark cloud that surrounds them kind of like in comics where a thundercloud follows people around? And others who just seemed to drain every bit of energy from you? Most don't do it consciously, they aren't aware of what they're doing. However, I would have thought that this particular group should have known better. "As you sow, so shall you reap" you know. Some of it they did deliberately like some were on some sort of power trip or something. One thought of himself as some sort of wizard or something. I thought they were a bit nuts.

Another group that I know basically nothing about is Christian Scientists. Anyone know anything about them? I know of one person who's baby was born with a hole in her heart, which was fixable with surgery, but the baby died because she wouldn't allow a surgeon to touch it. I cannot understand this one at all.

I could copy/paste the most pertinent sections but I know how deeply you like to read into things Hal so I will just give a link that has all the basics: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_ScienceCrazy, crazy, crazy......

Thanks, Wolfe. Don't have time to read it all right now, but read enough. Think they're taking faith healing just a little too far.
