man I still remember going to the Metreon just to find some decent opponents. Not to brag but local arcades just offer kids who mash at the buttons and the challenges are not really a fight and more like a beat-em-up game.. TTT would have to be my most played. Although lately I've been playing Tekken 5 and Sacred a lot.

If we are going into the realm of our classic fighting game mine would be Super Street Fighter 2 : Turbo. It was the first one to feature Akuma who is my favorite character in the series. He was uber powerful so if you knew the code to play as him you could annihilate the game pretty easily. And then if you were able to defeat everybody through Bison without loosing he would come out, kill Bison and then proceed to kick your ass over and over. The first time I got to him I had to do the fight over some 80 times. My thumbs were never so sore again or my throat from yelling at how cheap he was and how I would be mad that I could not pull off his stunts with perfect computer precison. Now though he is watered down and not nearly as fun to play as which sucks, but oh well, he still looks cool.

I was never a big Tekken fan, but I was never I big fighting game fan either, so no big deal. And I seem to have misplaced my collector's edition zelda game... I think I let a friend borrow it and forgot.

Yeah I never liked fighting games either.... I pretty much always stick with RPG's or strategy type games like Prince of Persia or Thief. ;D

We seem to have similar taste in games Wolfe. Adventure/RPG type games are pretty much all I ever play, with some other stuff mixed in like Metroid.

I love metroid games, well all of them but the new ones that are 3d. I want my 2d glory. I bought a Game Boy Advance just to play the Metroid games on it, I hope they release Super Metroid for it since it is one of my top games ever. Although I suppose I can just play it on the Revolution as well.

I could have sworn that all of the Game Boy Advance metroid games, except fusion, were just remakes of the original games. I was also quite skeptical of the new metroid games that are 3d, and then I played them. They made an excellent transition into 3d, almost as good as zelda made.

Yeah the Metroid Zero was just a remake of the first one, but it is still fun since I did not remember the first one and also having better graphics works well. As for the 3d ones I am pretty picky when it comes to fps style games. If they would have made it so I could see Samus the entire time if I wanted then I would like them. I am also really picky when it comes to making games 3d when they were 2d before, I figure if the game is fine in 2d they should leave it, or if they want 3d then make everything with polygons but still a 2d game, or some 3d is fine to change it up a bit.

Yeah, some games just cant make the transition from 2d to 3d, it just doesnt work. Take Castlevania for example. They have tried multiple times to switch it to 3d, and have failed miserably every time. The game is just meant to be a 2d side scroller and pretty much every time it is that way, it is great. Other games do very well making the transition, Zelda did awesome going to 3d, and Metroid did ok. There were many things that could have been better, but remember that you said FPS, First Person Shooter, I dont expect to see a character that I am supposed to be looking through the eyes of.

well see for Metroid you are not supposed to be looking through her eyes which is why I dont see why they did it. If the game warrants that kind of move then it is fine. They could have made the game 3d and you move around like the new Zelda games and it would have been fine.

Although moving the game to 3d, and shooting as you would be, it would be very difficult to implement such a game mechanic without it being first person. But it was done very well for RE4, so they could have done it for Metroid.

I think there are plently of shooting style games that are 3d that work well so they should be able to do it, although it might be hard to keep the Metroid feel. So maybe keeping it as a liner 3d style would work best.

I think I have run out of decent replies now... um... forum troll ftw!
anyway, yeah, now that I think about it, there is quite a bit they could have done, including the fps aspect, but if you can look past that, it is still a good game.
