I fell inlove with gaming when the world of video RPG dawned. So I would have two unrivaled classic favorites
1. Final Fantasy series (all and every spin offs including Tactics)
2. Diablo 1 and 2.
These are the games I wouldn't mind going back to and not get bored.

I was OBSESSED with Diablo and Diablo II for a LONG time..... but now I HATE them. I have never been too into playing single player when multi-player is an option and the poeple who play Diablo have become horrible greedy rude bastards! I finally got so angry with the way people treated each other there that I had to stop playing all together. Not to mention I hated the feature where you could only do the quests once and there weren't that many of them to begin with... that gets sooo boring. There are a few games I could play over and over though.... 1) Final Fantasy VII (I have only gotten to play VII and X and wasn't too into X) 2) Legend of the Dragoon 3) Thief: Deadly Shadows 4) The Legend of Zelda (that is if I actually still had the original Nintendo) Speaking of which they really really should redo that game EXACTLY the way it was, just a bit better graphics and re-release it!! I would buy a Nintendo JUST for that game!! LOL

I think I suffered the same HATE phenomenon as you Wolfe. Diablo sucked with all those bastards runnin' amok. But when I started playing MMORPGs I found out there were more of them. But since realms of RPGs are governed by Game Masters and Staff, and there are subgroups, guilds, circles and even political factions in them, it's a diverse world that's nice to explore. I swear sometimes I just stare at the backgrounds of WoW and drool. Guildwars is fun too, but you have to have a LOT of time in your hands to keep up with the game. I started in Ragnarok Online because I loved Animes. When it started it was nice, then all the immature people invaded and fun went down the drain.
There are simple games that I recommend we could all get together sometimes and play for free. Gunbound is a nice simple MMO that we can have fun whacking each other up. You don't need to have a broadband connection either.

Well since it seems most replies are dealing with your classic RPG I would have to have one for console systems being Final Fantasy VII, since before that I thought those kinds of games looked stupid, and for the PC it is Baldurs Gate.
Now if it is for all time I would have to use Tetris since I can play it on pretty much anything that has a screen and I have not gotten bored of it since my first time playing it on the Nintendo.

yay for retro games. Although I dont really consider FFVII in the realm of classic games just yet, it is still a game I would go back to. As for the original Zelda, I do still play it from time to time on my gamecube. Thank god they made a disc that includes that, Zelda II, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask all on one disc. I am also a big fan of the entire Final Fantasy series, especially the ones that havent come out in America until recently, which have been released for the Game Boy Advance.

Yeah considering something classic can be hard to define. It can be something that is old, although companies like to title something as being classic sometimes before it is even released. But to me FFVII would be classic because it changed the series to being more popular. I know FFIII on the SNES was popular, but it wasnt until VII that many people who had not played the games before became interested.

I can definitely agree with you there area. As VII is a great game, it was almost immediately a "classic" due to the fact that it is just such a great game.

I should go out and buy another copy of it for like 5 bucks now and play it. I gave all my old psone games to a friend since I never played them anymore, but talking about old games makes me want to.

I am very sad for myself for having gotten rid of my old systems after I was done with them, I often find myself wanting to go back and play old games.

Okay Trev did you say that you can get the original Zelda I mean the VERY FIRST one from the ORIGINAL nintendo system, just the way it was back then, but a new system?? #jawdrop# Ummm anyone want to chip in so I can get that system? LOL

I too wish I had my old systems back sometimes. I really miss my 3DO, sometimes I miss my SNES or Genesis, but I can just emmuate the games to tide me over, although some games are just to hard using a keyboard.

Yes, one thing I was very happy about wolfe is that they made a port of the original zelda game that is playable on gamecube. It is exactly like the original with absolutely nothing added or changed, the disc it is on is a collector's edition though, so finding it is fairly difficult and even used will often cost as much as a new game.

i would have to say FF VII legacy of Kain (the first one) Thief Diablo 2 old school - mutant league foot ball and Mario 3 resident evil tekken 3 for 2 player ....ahhhh all the time spent proving who had better finger dexterity ;D
its hard to define classic because i think their are certain games that just hook us in.
plus it depends on everyones taste I'm sure some where some one is saying that madden 05 will be a classic or that a game like halo but whatever these are my picks

fighting games, yes Tekken would be an instant classic for me. I never got hooked at Tekken 1, but that is where I started playing. I got hooked at Tekken 2, then never stopped there. Right now I'm waiting for Tekken 5:DR. And the fact that I am still trying to perfect the iSW for King for the longest time LMAO
