There has been quite a lot of talk about the book in the authors area so I figured we could give it its own thread. To start off I have a funny artive written by the Christain Broadcasting Network who try to convince you that the book is basically Satanic and evil and all that crap so you should not read it. It was written one April 11th 2006 so it is suprising it took them so long to attack it, although at the end of the article they talked about how Dan Brown was being sued for copyright infrigement, which he was found not guilty of by the way, so they really should check on their info more, but anyway it is always amusing to see things like this since they really have no grounds to make an attack so they just end up looking silly. www.cbn.com/special/DaVinciCode/Euteneuer_PaganDaVinci.asp-+-Win32##Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0##1024 × 768##1-+-

Oh my god, I just finished this book last night, I read Angels and Demons last week. I just checked this thread tonight for the first time and all I can say is..... think these people are trying to smooze the Vatican? The guy who wrote that article is seriously suffering from a cranal anal intusion. Personally I think it is about time someone told the truth about Christianity and the Vatican. I also think people know in thier hearts what is right and what is wrong, they do not need some antiquated brutal doctrine to tell them how to live. If we all took our cues from the Vatican on how to "solve" our problems there would be nothing and no one left to enjoy our beautiful earth. There would be no diversity, no imagination, no free thinking. Hmmm sounds alittle like Russia when Stalin was in control, total control.

All this talk is making me want to read it again! I read it a few years ago, I borrowed it from a friend. I also bought Angels & Demons later... but after we first talked about this book I went and bought my own copy. I haven't started reading it again though, since I am catching up on the newer Dean Koontz books. But now I am re-thinking that decision LOL. -+-Win32##Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.2##1152 × 864##1-+-

Yes if you have not read them then you must. Keep in mind though that about half of the stuff is made up, but at any rate it all seems like it could be true. Or if you dont want to read the DaVinci Code you can always just watch the movie next month. And then pretty soon the third book in the series will be released so if you want to catch up then you might need to get on that.

Ok well I just went to see when the next book would come out since I knew it was sometime this year, but an article that was published 10 hours ago says it will be sometime in 2007 due to all the legal stuff going on recently with the DaVinci Code. So you have more time to catch up.

Oh I realize it is a work of fiction but something deep inside tells me it is closer to the truth than the Vatican's story of how it all happened. Women once held extremely important religious positions in ancient Egypt, then Christianity and the Romans came along and all that changed. But he is right on the thought that religions have a way of "borrowing" from one another, and that is how they introduce the new religion and get people to change over. There was a program on the History Channel about the history of Christianity and there are alot of religious theologians and historians who do not agree with the bibles version of history. God I miss the History channel, it is one of the few that I actually miss, we got rid of the satellite 2 years ago. I am not saying Mr. Brown has it right but I think it may be closer than we are taught to believe.

Yeah I think there is much they dont tell us. As for the book while he says only half is true it is written so well it is hard to figure out what is his thoughts, and even then his thoughts are probably what he believes in and he knows more about it then I do so he could be right. What we need to do is take our army and attack the Vatican and get all the info in their vault to release to the world.

I finished reading the book last night. Thought it was a great book... very well written. I was hoping to learn some things I didn't already know or hadn't heard before. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I am no expert on symbology or Catholocism, but from what I have read and heard from various sources a great deal of what was written in the book is likely closer to the truth than most people realize. It is very easy to believe that the Vatican has a lot of information they refuse to release to the general public... but they are not the only ones.

Well you should also read the earlier one, Angels And Demons. It is more scientific so it might have some things you did not know in it.

I read the book and enjoyed it.
I haven't seen the movie yet though. I'm very fond of church history and the history of all these little denominations that continue to branch out.
When I was American Baptist, I found that my denomination was started in Scotland by John Smythe.
Not sure if I can debate theology on this board, so I won't start anything.

If you wish to debate theology (which is something I love to do) you should probably do so either in the Metaphysical section or the Bla, Bla, Bla section.
