Hi everyone,
Those who recognize my username of Florimel will understand the meaning of the subject of this thread. #unicorn#
It's been a couple of months since I joined this forum and I completely agree with those who say it's extremely well-designed and a very pleasant place to visit and to share information.
I guess I've hesitated to do an intro post because, although I'm just a tad younger than the old geezer, I'm among the first of the baby boomers and I expect the oldest female member.
Still, I do love sci-fi, fantasy, and rpg gaming. I cut my computer gaming teeth on Wizardry I. After all, it was we baby boomers who started the Dungeons and Dragons dice RPG craze. #angel#
Thank you all for making me feel welcome.

Well here is your late #welcome# Florimel. And thank you for the kudos on my site, I am so glad you all enjoy it so much Ohhh and don't worry about your age one bit, you are a gamer and that is all that matters here. #btw# one of the first people I started playing with and who is also a member of my clan is about your age. He's one of the funniest people I ever met. We used to talk on the teamspeak program while we played and spend hours talking about my daughter and his grandchildren. Was great fun! So anyway, glad to have you here and keep posting ;D Wolfe -+-Win32##Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.2##1152 × 864##1-+-

Hello and welcome #welcome#
Wolfe was right to say that age is the least of our concerns here. Not that it is not important but personally I think (and they might all concur) that as long as a gamer keeps playing, the game gets immortalized. THAT is an ageless pursuit that I think I would be doing till I have to type and click with my tongue... god forbid.. LOL

Your tongue? LOL I would probably still play if I had to use my toes, but am not sure about my tongue!
A warm welcome to you Florimel! #dragon#

Thanks to you all for your response and your welcome. Hopefully, my fingers will continue to work, thereby precluding the need to use tongue or toes.
I have not yet ventured into multiplayer online games although I have done a good deal of online interactive fiction. SP has always given me a sense of full immersion and the time to think of what I would have added to the story.
Since I do like to find out as much information about a game I am playing and enjoying, I have explored a lot of sites and forums. You should be very proud of this one.

Okay, I'm going to ask for a bit of advice now. I'm not sure if I should have placed it somewhere else, but if so, just go ahead and move it. Here goes...
I am considering dabbling a bit in MP. Since I am older and have no experience in online MP games, do you think I'd find it a fun experience? Please answer what you truly think. My ego is far from fragile. #lol#
If I do decide to get my feet wet, and I'm pretty sure I'd do either cooperative or hack n slash, would you recommend
Open or Closed? New character starting in Bronze or Imported character of about Level 25 - 30 starting in Silver?
Any other advice?
Thanks,

This should probably have been in the Sacred Chat area, but since I can't move a single post unless I start a new thread and just quote you I will answer you here First off age has absolutely NOTHING to do with it.... the only thing that may be a tad different with age in SOME cases is that some of the teenagers that play tend to be a little more inconsiderate, rude or greedy than the older players. But that is a generational thing, they weren't all taught respect for others like the older generations. Other than that age doesn't mean anything in the gaming world. I can only answer you based on my personal experience which is a bit limited since I have only ever played closed MP in hack n' slash mode. But I find that there are many benefits of playing online... 1) you get to meet some cool people 2) items that you don't need are never wasted since you can always give them away to others, or get someone to help you moved them to another of your characters that could use them 3) you don't have to worry about messing up a quest since all you have to do is go to a fresh game and do it again 4) if there are certain quests or monsters that you really enjoy beating you can do them over and over and over There is more but thats all I can think of at the moment... As far as game type.... like I said I have never played in open, but I prefer the idea of closed. Like it says in my game type tutorial, closed is saved on the Sacred servers so you never have to worry about your computer crashing or virus' that may screw up your game files so you have to start over. Plus with open since the game files are saved on your computer they can be altered, which means that people who know how can cheat like crazy by "improving" their characters and items. I don't like that... I play a game for the challenge and if you are cheating it takes all the challenge out of the game. Now let's see... cooperative or hack n' slash, well you can only play hack n' slash if you choose to play on closed multiplayer. But if you choose open than you have the option of either. Cooperative has it's benefits because you can do all the main quests and save your progress, whereas in Hack n' Slash you can only do the Underworld Campaign and you can not save progress. Of course saving your progress will also remove the ability of doing the quests over and over. But both ways are really good, since some don't feel the accomplishment of "beating" the game if their progress isn't saved... I sometimes feel that way myself. As far as importing a character or starting fresh.... that is all personal preference. I hear that their can sometimes be glitches with losing skills or items or whatever when you import, so I just don't bother. But if you are really attached to your SP character go for it! Overall the actual gameplay is the same as SP, the only difference is that there are other people in the same games as you, unless you do a private passworded game. So you just have to think about where other people are playing and not barge in, possibly getting them killed if you are a higher lvl. And if you are playing side by side with someone you have to share drops. It is simple courtesy stuff though. -+-Win32##Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.2##1152 × 864##1-+-
