(Yes, yes, could my origins be any more obvious?)
Hi, new person on the scene. Not new to Sacred, though...well, newer by comparison, but that's it. I've been playing Sacred for a couple of months, now, though I've had it for a while. I was introduced to it when the husband linked me to the demo after I'd had a particularly annoying time with Baal. I gave it a chance, and had the best time with the Gladiator...though even that took getting used to. I didn't think much about it, when the game finally came out--but I was still playing DII much of the time, so I suppose I can beg excuse on that account?
In any event, fast-forward to a few months ago. After Hubby embarrasses me greatly at an alumni outing the previous evening, he wakes up before I do and tries to find a "please-don't-hurt-me-I'm-really-sorry" gift. He remembers me mentioning something about Sacred a while back...and decides a dozen roses and a couple of computer games will be enough to soothe the savage beast. (I'd already forgiven him...I just wasn't awake yet to say as much.) When I wake up, I find the dozen roses and a copy each of Dungeon Siege and Sacred. After taking a quick glance at Dungeon Siege, I darted off to my computer and installed it, ready to start play. I don't think I got much past taking Mr. Noxtrax to Porto Vallum before I took a break; I had got into Morrowind, by that point, and the play style was still a bit foreign for me.
I started playing again about a month or two ago...and not a week passed before he asked if I would be interested in playing MP with him. (Translation: "That looks fun. I wanna play, too. Can we get another copy?") I look up whether or not there's an expansion to look for...and wouldn't you know it? Gold and Underworld had been released by then, and wouldn't I like to try the expansions? I got UW, he got Gold, and we did some MP that night.
He hasn't played much recently, though, having been re-snagged by the City of Heroes/Villains bug, but eventually...
Ah, yes, and my greatest of thanks to NightWolfe for hosting the ONLY UW walkthrough I've found online. It has been priceless to my sanity and enjoyment of the game. Thank you.
