So I know we had a topic for global warming to debate on, which is now gone, I think Beckyh started it actually which would explain it. Anyway, as you all know, or should know, I think its a bunch of crap, so anytime I find something to support me I have to post it. This time we have more proof for the idea I like that the entire thing is just a natural progression of nature. Normally I had thought it was simply relegated to being that we are coming out of an ice age and that changes in the brightness and thus temperature of the sun were causing it, and now this same waming phenomenon can be seen universally. The article speaks only of Mars, but I have seen other ones talk about the same thing happening on moons of like Saturn and Jupiter. So now I am left wondering how my evil emissions from my SUV are making it all the way out to atleast Mars? news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/02/070228-mars-warming.html

You must have one hell of a gas guzzling SUV if your emissions are reaching Mars.
By the way, even if global warming isn't caused by humans in any way/shape/form, using less fossil fuels is something everyone could benefit from. They are a temporary source of energy, if we begin to develop other types of energy before we run out then we will be better off. Imagine it this way:
If we haven't begun developing other energy sources and our fossil fuels run out the entire world stops functioning for days, weeks, however long it takes for someone to develop a new energy source and for it to be mass marketed. When this does happen the energy source will be far more expensive than oil ever can get to because it will be in such high demand and most likely not very much supply if it is a new development.
Now why not switch over to a hybrid and save yourself a little money along the way?
Better idea, nuke the world. We don't need it anymore. Nobody should still be alive. We voted Bush in twice. The Brit's followed us into Iraq. France didn't, but they don't shave their armpits (wow stereotype - I'm French so it's ok right?). All the German's do is drink beer. Russian's are too busy killing themselves. What is the point of it all?
If I started giving away my stuff in this thread it would sound like I'm going to kill myself wouldn't it? Ha

Wow... lots of angst there griff.... and you forgot Asians trying to kill the world with MSG in fly lice (ok there's another stereotype, I'm Asian... griff!).
If Universal Warming is indeed happening, it's starting to sound like a massive and cataclysmic reboot. For all we know, this happened before and Earth was just the last to reboot. For all we know all the other planets in this solar system had life and we didn't. Bang! Came this Universal Warming, annhilated all life as we know it on other planets and we... being the slow folks that we are... began with one cell... and then there was life on Earth. Maybe it's our turn to collapse on life support and the rest are getting the paddle. Bzzzzzt... charging... clear!
It's just my point of view. If this whole system was designed to foster life, then "eternal life" was for the whole universe and the prophets have been trying to tell us that life will always be a binding energy in this universe, eternally recyling in one form or another... there will ALWAYS be life in this Universe, it's just a matter of how it gets destroyed and created... and we are sooooo on the wrong end of finding out which. Were they able to tell how man's quest for knowledge will eventually lead to our doom? Is that the reason why religion is so detached from mundane needs: a system of discipline masquarading as a belief to prevent the cause of armageddon -- us?
Ok am I straying? Green house gases bad, fart good. Noted.

It's funny you mention a 'Reboot'. I read a series of books that mentions it too. Time, Space, Origin; by Stephen Baxter. Time, I think, is the particular novel that mentions a recurring, universal 'Reboot'. Err, anyway. I'll quit highjacking the thread now

As you all have said, we probably are managing to kill ourselves off one way or another. We are using up resources faster than they can be replaced, and we have all sorts of fun diseases coming out of the rain forests as we chop them down.
Heck, if we got all the nukes in the world flying at once, it would be enough to blow up the earth several times over.
But back to the idea of global warming. I agree that even if it does not exist (I am not saying it does or does not exist) there are enough reasons still to be conservative as much as possible.
As I said once on the board elsewhere, our beloved Canadian government has a plan to deal with global warming. A 5% reduction in pollution by 2050, so we will be alright up here. (since this is text and people can't hear tone of voice, I will explicitly state that I was being sarcastic)
Well, I'd best shut up now before I end up in trouble for posting any more on this subject. As it is, there is likely to be someone out there who would accuse me of being an eco-wimp (although not necessarily on this board)
