I saw on the main page that the Metaphysical section stated that it talked about "from alchemy to zombies". I didn't see any zomie forums so I decided to create one.
I love Zombies. The living Dead. I mean what's not cool about them. Sure they eat brains and whatnot, but hey, it doesn't have to be yours.

You know I have to say, that Zombies don't really interest me.
They are meant to be scary, but how can something that stumbles along at 2 mph ever catch up to you to be scary? I love in movies how people run away from them and somehow the zombie still catches up to torment them even though they hardly seem to move at all.

Becky you should watch the movie Land of the Dead. I think it was my favorite zombie movie of all time.
Land of the Dead was basically like most other zombie movies.. Zombies take over, start turning people into zombies, etc. But in this one a zombie learns things, and he teaches the others to become smarter. They then attack a city full of actually alive people, and only a few survive...
Zombies are great.

I think at first Zombies were supposed to be scarry, but after awhile they became funny (to me atleast.) A good one to see is Shawn of the Dead. And yes Land of the Dead was a good one too. Resident Evil is a good series too. Not so much on zombies, but re-animating dead life.

Zombie- the body of a dead person given the semblance of life, but mute and will-less, by a supernatural force, usually for some evil purpose.
Note the "usually" for some evil purpose. That means you could have friendly zombies. I want peaceful happy zombies to come and bring world peace.

Personally, the idea of walking, shambling, rotting dead flesh just grosses me out. I just cannot imagine peaceful happy walking rotting flesh at all. :tongue2:

I for one have never really been into zombies... I like all kinds of horror movies but zombies always just bored me... I also agree with the whole how scary is something that just shambles along all slow. It always blowed my mind on how many people got killed in these movies cause as far as I am concerned if you are idiotic enough to get caught by something soooo slow you deserve to get it. LOL. But anyway I have recently started reading books by an author I hadn't discovered before who is sooooo great! (THANK YOU Ian!!!) It is Laurell K. Hamilton and she has stuff about zombies which I think is great. There are people out there that are naturally born gifted that are called Necromancers and they have power over the dead including raising them from their graves through ritual. They can be the mindless flesh eating zombies if the ritual isn't done correctly or isn't finished but if it IS done right they have their own mind at least for a little while. But the reason that they bring the dead back is the funny part. People pay the main character to raise zombies for a variety of reasons including arguments about their will, settling historical arguments, getting court testimony, etc. It is so funny that they go to the trouble to raise the dead just to ask them a few questions and then put them back.

I love zombies. I play around that I am one as well with some kids my wife babysits. They join in as well, because it is fun to walk around slowly moaning BRAINS!!!!! There is also a zombie board game I want to get that resembles the Dawn Of The Dead movie where you are stuck inside a shopping mall. While I do not think they are the best evil thing in movies, they are atleast easy to do, so this makes for plently of horrible B-Movies, or worse, that keep me busy. Oh and in dealing with their slow movement I do not think it is a problem because they can obviously teleport so they are always near the person running away from them, or so my theory goes. The same teleportation theory can apply to pretty much any evil thing in movies, or just the bad buy chasing the good guy in general since they always seem to be behind the door that is upstair where the good person ran to while the bad thing was just walking.
