I figure since lots of people have read the DaVinci Code or are familiar somewhat with these groups it could make a interesting topic.
There are many secret societies out there but those are some of the more well known. Even though they are known to exist very little is known about what they do. Many people think that they or some other societies secretly rule the world.
I like the Illuminati best I think because they were the scientific people and great thinkers who would have been put to the death in their times since science was evil compared to religion. I would hate to think of a man like DaVinci being killed when there are so many ideas he came up with that still intrigue millions today.

The Illuminati has always intrigued me as well.... I even have this really cool set of books and in them the whole of the Illuminati including DaVinci are really vampires. Anyway I will have to do a little bit of research and I will get back to this topic...

Have not read the DaVinci code, but have heard all kinds of things about the Illuminati (except for the vampire thing). Don't know anything about Freemasons or Knights Templar. I do know a little about the Rosicrucian Order (AMORC) though. Would someone please tell me more about the Illuminati?

Based on what little I've read (which isn't that much) it seems that some of these groups are loosely based on the old mystery schools of thought that dealt with alchemy, etc. The Rosicrucian Order AMORC definitely does. They trace their teachings back to ancient Egypt and are not affiliated with any kind of organized religion. Have read that some even believe that Christ was a student of the mystery religions which is how he performed many of his miracles. They claim that his mental control was so great that he could manifest material objects from "thin air" and manipulate matter. An interesting thought, but who knows.

I just read a little passage and in it they say that the Illuminati have been traced back to Atlantis. If that is true it really makes me wonder what kinds of things they know.

The oldest organized study of knowledge that I'm familiar with is the Kaballah which has different spellings. This discipline has been associated with the Jewish sect, some say the 3 Magi, Daniel and others were members of this sect. The hard info on this body of knowledge is limited but seems to resemble the Sumerian sciences.. what little we know of it. -+-Win32##Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0##1024 × 768##1-+-

Area666, love the research you are doing. Yes there have been links to Atlantis with the Illuminati and the Knights Templar. It goes back further than that as these 2 groups are mere shadows of the true holders of knowledge. Search a bit into the books of Enoch and come back for some more talk.....

The freemasons have always intriuged me. Some of their cermonies and customs are very interesting. Also some of the religious sects like the "Temple of Set" and the "Church of Satan". Not that i am a satanist, I just happen to love reading about different religions, from christanity, to taoism, to satanism. I love the old celtic religion, greek, roman, norse, egyptian, all that interests me very much. its nice to see people who think that stuff is cool, and dont think its dorky to have a whole book shelf dedicated to religions of the world and their myths and gods and such. NERDS UNITE!

Been a while since posting in this thread. I will look into the Enoch stuff then since I am only vaguely familiar currently. And Whiplash perhaps you should start a thread on the various religions you know things about since it is fun to talk about the nonpopular ones or the ones of the past.

Great idea! It would be fun to discuss different mythologies and religions. I'm no expert on religions, but I have done some research on several schools of thought. Would be interesting to see other people's thoughts and points of view.

i would love to do that. but here is a different approach. how about: if someone wants to know something on a particular religion or peoples, such as the ancient celts, just start a thread and i will fill in the blanks. lol this will give me a chance to use all those books i got, and make use of some of that time i spent i college. lol  so if you want to know something, just post a new thread and i will help you out. i know about many different ones, so dont be shy.
