I read an article the other day on how a bunch of pet food was contanimated and how 10 or so pets had died as a result of it. Just now on the news they had said 12 pets had died, but that is just the "offical" number released by the manufacturer. Well somebody from one of the vets decided to make a website for this where they let people write in their stories and the number they have right now is over 250. On the news there was a family who is trying to sue the company and what really pisses me off is the response from one of the companies lawyers. Basically he said that the family has no chance because a pet is something that is categorized just like any other household thing and only have the value assigned to it that it was originally purchased at. Statements like that piss me off to no end. If it was legal to kill another human I would be finding that bastard right now to feed him some contanimated food so he can slowly suffer like these animals who are basically having their kidneys slowly fail. Then when he is dead I would tell his family it is ok because his only worth in life is how much he earns in one year. Anyway if you have a pet then you should goto this site www.menufoods.com/recall/Then click on either the dog or cat food section to bring up the brands that are bad. I was totally suprised by how many major brands are all under one label. One final thing that the news said was that the pet food industry is self analyzing, so that means the govt or any other regulatory agency does not step in to make sure the foods are safe, but I am thinking this incident will change all that, or I sure hope so.

This one stressed me out until our news finally said it was wet food, only took them 3 days. In following the story since Saturday they seemed to be trying for the Fear Factor, instead of giving the accurate info, just go for the panic. We seem to be ok here, I have them all on Purena. But this has worried me since the last recall. Its just awful.

On the news tonight they said the company knew about this even before they released the food since their in house tests on food on animals there made them get sick, although they did not say if any died there. But at any rate that was 3 weeks ago and the first case outside of the factory was over a week ago and it took them until like 3 days ago or something to release a statement on it. So far my cat has been fine on some Iams food I have been giving her for a few days and the site does not list any Iams stuff that is bad, so I am happy for now.

I would think just from those actions they would be liable knowing putting out a questionable food. At least I hope so. My Pouncy is on Friskies, and she is so picky that I'm REALLY glad that that wasn't on the recall too. In thinking about this more, The song that comes to mind over and over is "Blame Canada" ;D On the serious side though, With all the food recalls both human and pets It has me worried about our food supply, I don't want to imagine if someone wanted to destroy us, that would be one very dangerous way to do it.

I would be fine if I die from eating some food since I would die eating something I like and thus be happy, but I would be very mad if it happened to my cat since she does not understand things like that, or atleast have such an odd outlook on things.

Oh no you don't have a strange outlook, We have a responsibility for our pets that many people don't take seriously, especially the company's out there to only make money and forgetting the fact they are making food to feed them with. Sorry to sound preachy , I love my babies! I actually can't decide on whether to have another child or get a puppy! and I really want a puppy! A cute little border collie female. Its hard to depend on others for the safety and well being of our pets. My dad had several St Bernard's and a water spaniel, someone went by his house and dropped poison meat over his fence on his lawn and he lost 3 of his 6 in a very nasty horrible way. Its taken him a year to recover from it. Sometimes I don't like people very much. Its hard enough worrying about what others could do, never mind whats coming from what should be a reliable food source. on our local news tonight, there are several cats here at my vets office right now affected by this mess, and its unknown if they will survive. Not fair not fair not fair.

It most certainly is not fair. 3 or so days of suffering, coughing up blood and who knows what else. It all boils down to people sucking and how I wish I could be an animal defender, but alas my methods to do it are not legal.

That's horrible. I'm not sure of what brand my wife uses for her cat and my dog, but to my last account I think it was whiskas and Alpo respectively. Though she tends to change it weekly since the cat and the dog, once saturated with the taste, tend to eat less.
What they are doing is unforgiveable. I can understand mistakes that go out of hand, but to reply something like that, is like saying most living things other than human is just another commodity is big, corporate BS. If we were not the dominant species in this planet, would he appreciate a comment like that?!
If my pet was to suffer like that, I'd rather put him out of his misery than to see him limp his way to his death bed coughing up blood and pissing himself before he can actually make it there.

They just released on Fox News what it was in the food, rat poison!
I am truly disgusted now.

I can think of a few things I'd like to do to whoever contaminated the food and the lawyer... #voodoo#

That tells me it would have been intentional then. I can not think of a pet food manufacturer making poison is the same building so that the conveyer belts could have the possibility of one product falling off and getting to another one.

That was the first thought I had, being after all the publicly, and time spent on harping on it, Now they are keeping it quiet, it went from Rat poison to rodent killer... NOW they go less dramatic. This just makes me beyond speechless. It had to have been deliberate, How could someone have screwed up so badly??? Oh I hope they get hung up by their special place and beaten with a base ball bat. Um sorry to sound so violent... but sometimes my aggressive side comes out... grr

I do not think that going from rat poison to rodent killer is any sort of a downgrade in the title. All it did was go from rat to a less specific rodent, and killer actually sounds worse off then poison to me. Either way though your evilish thoughts are perfectly fine. The thoughts I have are more dark and similar to something in the Saw movies that I would like to do or have done to those involved.

And I am sure Deon can think of things worse then I can since he knows so much about the body. Anyway though now that this is all known there better be something done about it like searching to find who was involved, the company either being shut down or have somebody come in to regulate them, or atleast increase security.
