Does anyone else here suffer from INSOMNIA??? it can be friggin frustrating as HELL!!!!! it is currently 3:40am (in OHIO) right now and i have yet to so much as friggin YAWN!!! DAMN! the stupid cause of my insomnia is my friggin ADHD medicine (Adderall) which, by the way, is literally a form of SPEED... lol... anyways, another side-effect of this damn medicine is lack of appetite... which is why i jokingly say that i am unintentionally annorexic (or however in the hell it's spelled...) ... i mean i'm 6' tall and only weigh 120 lbs for Christ's sake!!! can anyone relate in any way to my plight?!

Well I know I dont sleep to much. I try to though. I will goto sleep at say 10 and plan to get up at 6. It normally takes me like 1-2 hors to fall asleep but most of the time now I just think of random anythings and once I get to their being like less then 5 hours left before I have to wake up my brain tells me that there is no point so I end up not falling asleep at all. I just lay there and close my eyes, think, and never reach REM sleep. Last night was like that and I am all tired right now but when I try to sleep tonight I might be to sleepy to fall asleep. I know other people are like this as well, but I will allow them to agree or dissagree.

OK my problem is that from a young age i was up quite late being that my mom worked 3 jobs and i never got to see her so i use to wait up for her. and now that I'm 23 its just gotten worse i can fully operate on about 2-5 hrs of sleep if i can actually get to sleep. other time i ll sty up for 48 hrs or more because as area said I'm to tired to sleep or i get a second third and fourth wind. so I'm usually up at all hours of the night. and if i actually get to bed i sleep probably no more then an hour or two before I'm up and about again. sometimes i get so bored i decide its a good idea to rearrange the living room bathroom or kitchen and or start cleaning at 4 am........currently Ive been up later then usual because I'm working on the comp then i feel i need time to wind down so then by the time 4 or 5 am rolls around i feel like I've just slept for about 5 hrs and am fully energized. so by this point and time i just resort to knocking my self unconscious with whatever is handy at the time.
but from having this problem for so long I've adapted and now i rarely think about. its just second nature now.
alright thats enough from me
OH my blender says he has insomnia too.... the fridge light keeps him awake.

I used to be able to have a lot less sleep when I was in the Marines and all. But now I want to lay in bed for far to many hours even though I am not sleeping, so I am not trying to get back down to 8 or less. It used to be that if I was in bed over 8 my head would hurt so I knew I had to get up. I know how it goes when the sun comes up you feel like you slept even though you have been up all night. My body is so used to sleep being done at night that when it becomes day it just thinks it slept some.

I'm a chronic insomniac. Drives my wife nuts. I can stay up until 2-3am and still be up at 6-7am and fully functional. Occasionally my body tries to catch up, so I go to bed early (like midnight) and sleep until 10:30am, like this morning. If I try going to bed earlier regularly I end up laying there staring at the ceiling figuring out obscure math problems in my head (like the angle of intersection of two congruent surfaces of a dodecahedron). Other times I try to picture how to make some new balloon animal while laying there. If it gets really bad I have to get up and go downstairs and try it, otherwise I'll never get some sleep.

I'm an evening person so to speak, but my job requires me to be awake by 5am so I could atleast run, or work out, or just be fit (though I have fat issues LOL) for the training... or atleast not look unhealthy #roflmao# one reason why I am so dependent on coffee.. am so not a morning person...

I rarely think of anything that is mathmatical, or actually that has much of a point. I do understand the balloon thing. I am a huge Lego fan so sometimes I think of something I need to build so I will have to atleast get a start on it so I wont forget or write it down. It also happens if I am trying to think of some movie scene I might want to film when I visit one of my friends. As for getting up at 5 Deon I know how it goes. The gym on one of my Marine bases opened at 5 so I would get up at like 440 each morning to get there and work out before my normal working out with my platoon. I have never really been a night person since I think there is nothing to really be done at night that is super interesting. I would much rather do things in the day when I can see them. But the military did make me a forced morning person as I like to say.

well thanks guys, at least i don't feel so ridiculously alone in my plight... and as far as stuff i just GOTTA do before i go to bed... well... can literally be anything from something i gotta draw before i forget (damn ADHD...) to something like feeling thirsty, getting a drink of (most likely) Apple Kiwi Strawberry juice (best stuff in the friggin world... juice wise that is...) and following my drink, i decide heck, i'm already here so i might as well decide i'm hungry too, then take one step over from the fridge to the pantry (they are literally side-by-side...) and grab some Swiss Rolls, Fudge Rounds, or any other Little Debbie snack we got, or in desperate cases when we are out of them i just grab a thing of JIF Extra Crunchy peanutbutter and a TBL spoon and get crackin! (odd i know...)

Well true, my daytime is more productive. Perhaps the only thing I revere in the night is silence.... not utter or complete silence but atleast it's a few moments of peace from the turmoil of the day... then a kid starts crying for milk bottles.... -+-Win32##Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0##1024 × 768##1-+-

I cant sleep if it is silent, since then I hear things like my heart beat or breathing, etc. So I like to have noise, but it cant be any noise. It has to be constant like a fan. If it was something like a TV I will never fall asleep since my brain will try to form the images I am hearing. The only non contant form of noise I can use is music, but it has to be instrumental since if it has vocals ill want to sing it in my brain.

Not sure if a static tv would work since I have not tried it, but in theory it might, until I start to hear the voices that is.

Well you should all know the answer when it comes to me.... I am always here... even at 7AM when I still haven't slept. I have been having a way worse time sleeping lately and I am NOT functional on only a little sleep I MUST get 6-8 hrs sleep or I am all wacked out for the day which has been happening a lot lately.
I have this weird problem though, which sometimes contributes to my insomnia but not often lately since I just can't get sleepy at all lately.
So anway I am a total wimp and really scared of the dark... like so scared I should see a therapist for it. But anyway so I used to sleep with a 100watt lamp on ALL night long... if there were ANY shadows in the room I just couldn't sleep. But then 7 yrs ago I met Alucard and he can't sleep with the light on, so as long as he is there with me I feel safe and can sleep in the dark. But on those nights that he is having trouble sleeping (he has worse insomnia than me) I can't sleep in the dark cause I am scared, but I can't sleep with the light cause now I am so used to the dark that the light keeps me up!!! I just can't win #arghh#
