Ok, We are safe.. Thankfully we are up on top of a hill and have a back road to get out, but this is whats happening at the bottom of it right now.....
Floods Ravage Barre and Central Vermont
Barre, Vermont - July 11, 2007
Two and a half feet of water were reported in the downtown section of Barre Wednesday night as the Stevens Branch and Jail Branch of the Winooski River overflowed their banks.
Police in Barre declared a state of emergency and asked everyone to stay out of the downtown. Some residents were being evacuated to the Barre Auditorium.
One woman told Channel 3 News the water was waist high on US Route 302 near the American Legion East of Barre.
Sections of Route 14 south of Hardwick were closed because of washouts and high water.
There was word of a potential tornado in the Upper Connecticut River Valley near Barnet... it was not an actual tornado warning, but residents of the region were urged to take precautions and seek shelter.
Channel three has several crews out covering the storm and we'll have more on the late news at 11.

Everything has calmed down now.. we were getting inches of rain in an hour which just flooded everything. The rain has stopped and the streets are now reopened.. there are a few roads that got washed out and a couple mudslides but for the most part everything is ok.. just a very sudden thing! I have to catch the news in the morning to see what else has happened. but Im glad its for the most part done now.
