just curious...
I wander around this board and see some very creative usernames.
I know hallelujah means "praise Jawheh" but the rest are stumping me.
I'll start out.
Hiram Sedai
Its a name i sort of created a couple of years back when I wanted a unique identity on the internet. I hated usernames with a number after them.
Hiram Maxim invented the Maxim Machine gun - circa WWI Sedai - comes from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time books
it also works when said outloud - Hear Em say die
On this site, I couldn't put a space between the first and last name

Interesting. I remembered Sedai from the Robert Jordan books, but didn't know where the Hiram came from. Actually, I chose Hallelujah (Hal for short) not because of it's actual meaning but because the Goblins say it a lot in the game! #lol# I think if I could change it, I'd probably use Rhapsody or Spellsinger. Have always been curious about Area666!

I believe you can change your name. I had asked wolfe a while back why her name appeared near the start of the names when they were alphabetical since it starts with n and all and she said her name as its default was administrator, so that was why. I think I even changed mine for a while but did not like it, so if you want to change yours then you should be able to do it in your profile, I think it says like display name, although it will be weird getting used to another name.
As for mine it goes back to the ancient times of last millenium of 1997 or so when I had my first name on AOL of AREA333. At that time the 333 stood for the 333mhz of the fastest computer that could be bought at the time in the form of a Pentium II 333. I have always liked the number of 666 since it can make people either freak out because of it, it can be a conversation starter, or like me I just think of it as a number. But anyway back when I had my 333 name I would go into chat rooms and explain how I had this 333mhz computer, even though I really did not, I think I had like a Pentium 233 or something at the time and then people would say how they would overclock theirs to like 350 or something so then one of my friends said we should make me a new name with the 666 and say I had a computer with two cpu's in it, and then since I liked the number already I figured it would be good and then it just stuck. Sometimes I like to use the binary equivalent though due to its interesting pattern of being a mirrored inverse of itself, 1010011010.
And now that I think of it more the area part came from the fact that I liked AREA 51 and I used to sign drawings I would do with it or in videogames when you could only put in 3 characters I would do A51, so yeah that should be mine.

It would be too confusing to change my name now. I'll just leave it alone. I was wondering if Area666 had something to do with Area 51. I have always thought that a lot of people are way too superstitious about 666. I have seen people get freaked out about it when their bowling team score or series score equals 666. I didn't you draw, Area. Anything you would like to share? -+-Win32##Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0##1024 × 768##1-+-

All the art I did is either gone or at my dads house. I used to draw a bunch in elemetary school then I started to just enlarge pictures I liked, such as I did an 8 foot picture of the Bismark, which was a German battleship from WWII. For a while I did some random things on the computer, but those are all gone. I might take up drawing again someday, but for now I find that I have much more fun building the things I think up with Legos since that whole third dimension of them is something I can not do on paper.

Okay guys... yes you can definitely change your name. Which is great cause unfortunately with this forum system when you first sign up it won't let you put spaces or capital letters in your name... they of course do this so that it is easier when you are signing in, but then you can change it for looks. Even by adding >, ^, }, ~ symbols to make it look more interesting if you want. The reason why my name is at the beginning of the alphabetical member list is that they had to create an original default admin account so that I could sign in and alter my forum after activation. So really my login name is admin and I still have to login with that name. Therefore Hal if you wanted to change your name because you thought it would confuse you having a new login name after all this time then don't worry it will stay hallelujah when you login. As far as for us it wouldn't be all the hard getting used to the change.... after all you are staff so you are color coded LOL. We can just think of you as the green name. I went to another forum for a month or so a while back and one of the staff annoyed me so much!!! He was a individual board mod on a site where the owner was constantly adding people to her staff list and this guy would change is name, signature and avatar every week!!! So unless you went to a thread that you KNOW he created and check to see that his new name appeared on it then you were never sure if it was really him at all.

Why would anyone want to change their name and everything constantly like that? That would get annoying. I still think I'll leave my name alone for now... It's what everyone's used to and we've have found a way to shorten it anyway. It's nice to know I can if I want to though. Thanks, Wolfe! -+-Win32##Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0##1024 × 768##1-+-

Post by Deonhower Colmyne on Aug 10, 2006 10:38:13 GMT -5
I wonder if my user name was ever a stomper Deonhower Colmyne is one of the Knights that lived in the time of Beowulf. Of the 7 promising Knights trained at that era he was the first to equip himself with 3 swords and proclaims the use of a shield useless for him in the combat field. This story was one I wrote in collaboration with several Filipino writers in 1997. It was somewhat an adaptation of its asian counter part "The Seven Swords of Mounth Heaven." The story was published in local circulation and is written in our native language (Pilipino) and English. My resources though were old english mythologies, asian legends and early chivalry history. Deon in that story mean "Demon" Hower was coined from the slur of young people "to hover" Colmyne is just a surname that literally means "Coal Mine" Deonhower Colmyne is half-demon, half-human and was found in the depths of the cave filled with rich amounts of coal. From the unexplained brimstone that was present he survived. He was trained and raise as a human. Later on he was named as such as he was often seen as a "demon hovering over the coalmine" as it is the only place he can find where he can fly and let his demon side free. Sorry if that was bore to tell.

My name has actually evolved over a period of 10 years or so.... Obviously I have a big thing for wolves and I always have... I just added the e to the end to make it a tad different and to distinguish it as a name instead of a reference to the animal itself. I also have a big thing for mythologies from around the world and especially enjoy the stories about faeries... so a long time ago my name was Druantia Wolfe. Druantia is a Dryad faerie queen of fir and oak trees and is associate with passion and knowledge. Then to make is easier for people to remember and spell and for me to type it became Drew Wolfe. I even have a friend that I met on the internet about 10 years ago and even though we have now, years later, we have met in person and he is my best friend he still calls me Drew most of the time. So after a number of years I got bored of that name and I also was at that point dating Alucard and we shared a lot of accounts at different places. So our shared name and sometimes my own name in a number of places (including the official Sacred forum) became RavynWolfe. Lastly we started having a lot more accounts in places that were separate from one another so he became RavynShadow (for the shadow that the raven casts across the moon) and I became NightWolfe (because I love black wolves and Ebony Wolfe was a previous non-internet name I had once and was tired of so I settled on Night for a lack of coming up with something better )

My name isn't that original... I was just wathing retro tv shows one day (Flinstones, Tom And Jerry, Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons). The Jetson's dog i thought had a funny name, Trallphaz. So that is my name. Watch me get sued now by the maker of the jetsons because i copied the dog's name... that would be bad.
