I am tired of people getting the answer to the riddles on the first or second try, so now I present my riddle that I can guarantee will not be gotten in the first one or two guesses, the third though, well its fair game by then.
I am thinking of a number between negative infinity and positive infinity, what is it?

Oh it can have decimal places alright, but I will be giving hints. I figure this first one is going to be the easiest since I have chosen a well known number. So far Griff your number is to small, and VearmiPone your number is to large. So now you only have to choose from this range, 666>x>3.

Yup, and as I said in my original post I figured by the third guess it would be fair game, and I was amused more so then people getting it on the first try. Some other time I shall have to use some really obscure number from ancient times, or maybe we can even bring in imaginary numbers.....

I should have guessed pi in the beginning.. that's where I was going with the guess of 3. I just got lucky though... What if we did a "Guess my number" game? That way we won't have to keep this going in riddles, we can still have it worth points, and we can establish some rules that can make it fun too

Write up a game with rules and all that and I would be more than happy to have you start it
