I just realized that this show might be something people around here would enjoy. Right now the show is done for the season, but you can find reruns of it or download it.
Basically it is a fantasy show though which is why I think people would like it. It is based off of the series called "Sword of Truth" by Terry Goodkind. I am borrowing the first book in the series from my girlfriend since I liked the series so much that I want to read it now.

Sure, based off of the show of course since I do not know the book. But basically there is a world where magic exists, but it only exists in half of the world with the other half being a normal world like ours was, but the whole thing takes places in a medieval time. There is a magical barrier between the two areas so that they can, typically, not cross over into the other side. The story revolves around a group of three people, one is the Seeker himself, one is an old mage, and another what is called a Confessor. The Confessor is a woman who can tell when people are telling the truth, and she also has the magical ability that when she grasps somebody by the neck she can take complete control over them. The three people want to save the world from a super powerful evil man who has magical powers, can fight really well, and has a huge army. The group is hunting for items to help them to defeat this bad guy due to a prophecy that says only the Seeker can kill him. His sword itself is powerful since it helps him to fight, he has a book that teaches him about power, and some boxes that, when assembled, can control anybody like a confessor, but they corrupt the person who used them into being evil. There are some interesting evil characters called Mord Sith that are a group of all women who basically torture people until they are loyal to them. They fight well and have these interesting sticks which cause huge pain to anybody they touch. There is a lot of good fighting scenes in the show that guys will like, and there is the love story between the Seeker and confessor that the women should like since it is one of those forbidden ones that can not happen for reasons I wont tell. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend_of_the_seeker

Here is a link to all of the episodes online, so if your interenet is fast enough it can be streamed. If not, and you are interested then perhaps I can burn all the episodes I have downloaded to dvds that could play on your PS3. www.hulu.com/legend-of-the-seeker

Well hopefully you wont be dissapointed then. From people who like the books I hear it is not very accurate, just loosely based off of it. My gf has read most of the books, and she still liked it though.
There is supposed to be a second season as well, so you can catch up on watching the first season ones online, and then watch the second season next year, or whenever it starts.

Did you ever get around to watching the show Hal? The shows site here, has a video of season 2 stuff that starts in november. I started reading the books; right now I am about half way through the 4th book. I have to say that while the show only loosely follows what is going on that I much enjoy it and I think they did a good job of adapting it for tv.

I have managed to watch a few episodes. I thought they did a good job adapting it for tv too. I enjoyed the episodes I watched and will continue to watch the show.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the books Area.
