Walking around the house doing my usual routine of cleaning and thanking God that "hell week" is halfway over (only 3 days left to it), I came about an idea of listing and picturing your pets. I am quite sure at least some of us have them and no kids are not pets even though at times they can seem like one LOL, ( mom of 3 wonderful kids). I love animals of all kinds and have a few Pets. 3 dogs (new puppy coming on Christmas Eve), 6 Cats (major story behind 3 of them) and 5 birds. Dogs Bear Coated Chinese Shar pei = Puddin Pop (rescue) Black Lab = Riley (rescue) aka Bohemoth Long haired Boxer mix = Harley (rescue) Pitt Bull Puppy = to be named later (arriving Christmas Eve) Cats Domestic Short Hair = Skunk (born to be mine) yes she does have a white stripe down the middle of her back, was from head to tail when she was a kitten. Domestic Short Hair = Damon Demon (youngest daughter's cat) Domestic Short Hair = Larry (oldest daughter brought him home from the flea market so I guess you could say he is also a rescue) Persian = Babe (rescue) got from a client who was put into assisted living home as with the next 2 kitties listed Persian = Misty (rescue) Hymi = Gidget (rescue) Birds Female Eclectus Parrot = Scarlett (bought from the client I got the kitties from) Blue and Gold Macaw = Louie (bought as a 4 month old) Double Yellow Headed Amazon = Gunny (rescue) owner died leaving no place for the bird to go White Dove = Crystal (rescue) Was released after the funeral of a FireFighter and it never made it back to the flock. Gouldian Finch = no name (rescue) recieved from kittie client Now as you can tell I am a big animal lover and have had all kind over the years but this is my little Zoo Crew.

Oh my gosh that's a lot!!! I've had a handful of pets over the years, none now unfortunately because our landlords won't allow them in their apartments. What really stinks though is that the only ones I ever really loved I never got any pictures of because I didn't have them for very long... I guess pets and I just don't go very well together. Here is a rundown of all the pets I've had (really the list isn't very long)... The first pet I ever had (that wasn't fish) was a kitten named Muffin. I was 10 yrs old I think and my Aunt's cat had kittens. I looked up the breed just now so I could tell you guys and she was a Pixie-Bob (what a CUTE name for a breed!). Of course she ended up being a crazy kitten and thought it was a great fun to play pirate down the floor length curtains on the sliding glass doors of my mom's living room. So my mom could only stand it for a month or so before making me give her back. By playing pirate I mean she would dig her claws into the curtain, climb to the very top and then slide down them just like pirates do with a knife on the ship's sail in old pirate movies. Next I was maybe 12 yrs old and be got this BEAUTIFUL puppy! I really, really loved him! The people who's dog had puppies named him Norman (ewwww!) and we never did get a chance to decide on a new name. He was a Golden Lab, Chow and Beagle mix. He looked just like a Lab but would have stayed much smaller. PERFECT! However, it was only a day or two after we got him that he had his first seizure. Turns out he had epilepsy and after having him for only a week my mom decided she could stand to watch the seizures and have to take him EVERYWHERE on top of it because of them. So again, we gave him back and only a few days after we did he died from a really severe seizure. The next pet we got was maybe a year later, he was a German Schnauzer that we got from the pound named Oliver. We actually had him for quite a few years, but I hated that dog! We suspect he was abused because he would randomly bite for no apparent reason. Of course, me being the youngest and smallest of the family I was his favorite target. He bit me 10 TIMES before I finally decided that I just wasn't ever going to touch him again. Although, he did draw blood when he bit they were quick nips and he was such a small dog that it never did any real damage and my mom felt sorry for him so they didn't see a reason to get rid of him just for the biting. They rationalized that he was just getting scared by one action or another and so we would just learn what we couldn't do. Like for instance, most dogs love it when you put both hands on the side of their heads and scratch both their ears at once... but Oliver you couldn't use both hands or he'd freak and bite. We finally did get rid of him when I was about 14 years old and developed an allergy to animals. It is a mild allergy though so as long as you keep the house really clean, the animal doesn't shed A LOT and they don't get on the furniture where I lay I am okay. But no matter how much we tried to teach him not to he would sneak on the couch right where I lay my head whenever we'd leave the room. So we gave him to a neighbor that had just lost their beloved Schnauzer. The next pet was when I was 17 yrs old. I was walking up to a friend's house and I heard this wailing that sounded like a crow or something. It just didn't stop so I went to investigate. The sound was coming from a wood pile in their yard and when I got closer I found a kitten. She had to have been no older than a couple of weeks, soooo tiny. I brought her in the house and we ended up having to get her a baby bottle and kitten formula because she wasn't even old enough to eat solid food yet. She was sooo cute. I named her Morrigan, a Celtic warrior goddess who's symbol was a crow (big mistake!) because I'd found her crying like a crow. She was a Calico. For weeks I had to bottle feed her, lucky I worked at a pet store and they were happy to let me bring her to work and all my co-workers argued over who got to feed her next LOL. But she grew up and her favorite game was to stalk me down the hallway of my house and attack my legs as I walked. When I say attack I mean she would launch herself at my leg and dig in will all of her claws AND mouth and wouldn't let go for anything. I would have to pry her off leaving bloody scratches... man she was vicious. So I gave her to my Aunt the HUGE cat lover. My Aunt loved her for quite a few years despite her habit of attacking until Morrigan finally got her so bad that she very nearly needed stitches. At that point my Aunt decided she better have her put to sleep. After Morrigan I was so sad that my mother gave in and let me get another cat, even though she didn't even want me to keep Morrigan in the first place. I went to cat rescue place and found this beautiful timid cat named Karma. I can't remember what breed she was. The lady at the rescue place told me that Karma had been a while cat and some people that used to feed her behind their store realized she was pregnant and so caught her to ensure they would be okay. Karma was VERY timid but the lady was sure that if given a good home she would become a great pet. Well I had her for about 3 weeks and during that time she didn't ONCE come out from beneath my dresser when I was in the room. Not for food, not to play, nothing. She really was a wild cat and was terribly unhappy in captivity. So I fished her out and brought her to Nickerson State Park to let her go free where I thought she'd be safe from civilization. You should have seen her! This cat who was so timid at my home that she would never come out and the few times I would sneak a peak at her without her knowing would constantly crawl along the floor on her belly in fear went running off into the forest leaping and jumping in excitement! Now for my last pet... I had moved out of my mother's house at this point and I saw an ad in the paper for free kittens. They were these beautiful black and white Maine Coons. I fell in love instantly. I named mine Kodiak. He was the most amazing cat I've ever seen. A cat that acted like a dog! I was doing some sort of craft with pipe cleaners one day and he kept batting at the one I was using. So in frustration I threw it across the room to distract him so I could finish what I was doing with a new one. He immediately ran over, picked it up in his mouth, brought it back dropping it at my feet and meowed at me until I threw it again! A cat that played fetch! From that point on, just like a dog, he wanted to play fetch ALL THE TIME! LOL!! Plus he wasn't independent like a cat usually is. The moment I would come home from being out and about he would run up and meet me at the door wanting attention. Wow, I loved that cat! But I hadn't even had him a year when I had to move back into my mother's house temporarily. I happened to be pregnant and was on strict orders by my doctor to stay away from the litter box and my mother forced me to give away my beautiful Kodiak since she didn't want to have to care for him... well I would have had to give him up anyhow since shortly after I moved into the apartment I'm in now with my husband and they don't allow animals So anyway those are all my old pets. Wow! That ended up being MUCH longer that I though roflol! Sorry

Ah good, another excuse for me to share my old picture of joy. All my pets have been posted around here before, but to consolidate them.... This is a picture of my cat that passed over the summer, her name was Missy. Now I have two kittens, with a thread on them here, and this is the most recent picture I have of them around from that thread.

I see I am not the only one with a britches kitty LOL! Ms. Skunk would crawl into the waist of my jeans once they hit the floor and sleep away. The blue twins are cute as well.
