So I took this English class this last semester that had us read a lot of books that are considered classics. For me I did not like any of them really, but I do not want to pass judgement since I never made it through more that like 100 pages of any of them since there was simply no time to read them all. But the books we were supposed to read and talk on were:
One Hundred Years of Solitude
The Sound And The Fury
Tess of the D'Urbervilles (I think this one I would like if I ever get around to it)
Daniel Deronda
Tom Jones (I would like this one if I could understand it)
Pride and Prejudice
Bleak House
Anna Karenina (Another I think I would like if I get around to it)
I think the books are heavily in favor of female readers though since my teacher, who is a feminist, seems to have chosen stories that involve love mostly, or that is what I got from the class discussions. But if anybody has read any of these then are they actually good? I bought a copy of all so they can sit with my other books and make me look smart, so I mine as well read them if they are good, but I like the opinions of normal people better than my teacher who has read them all a million times.
