Not a huge Vamp player myself, but ...
Axe and Sword lore are availible to vamp at level 3, where long-handled is availible much later. Also, all long-handled are two-handed (to my knowledge) whereas sword and axe can be one or two handed, allowing you the versatility of having a two-hander weapon and a one-hander weapon + shield configurations in different weapon slots.
So, I would pick either Axe or Sword (there are some very good weapons in both categories)
Interesting choice, by the way. Most people would play the Vamp for the powers you get in Vamp form (that is her strong point), but you seem to want to play her as though she was a Gladiator minus some skills.

It really is just personal preference on this. Honestly, I wouldn't take any of them unless you are really out of things to take. The only reason you would be taking one is to wear the full sets of any of the weapon sets (Orla, Fadalmar, or Aarnum). Everything else you can get around by socketing rings inside that have a higher requirement of some other stat. For instance, if you put a ring that requires 20 weapon lore in an axe that requires 10 axe lore the axe lore requirement drops off the axe and becomes a weapon lore requirement. The reason you can't do that with the weapon sets is that you need to have all 3 rings in the weapon to get the last bonus.
Orla- long handled weapon - charged bolts sent out on hit with full set. Lots of extra EXP.
Fadalmar- axe - Fireballs sent out on hit with full set. Lots of critical hit added.
Aarnum - sword - Chance to bind rangers/mages w/ full set. High attack rating added, lots of crit, open wounds, some WiDD and life leach.
When I made a vamp I remember having nothing left to take so I took both sword and axe lores and now I regret it. The only problem is she is level 160+ so I don't really want to restart her... I use fad's axe but it makes the game a lot less fun. It's too good I guess you could say..
