Due to the lack of interest in the travel area I am only going to post one picture for now, but if people want to see more let me know. Basically I went on vacation over the summer and one of the places I went to was Napa Valley in California. While there I remembered that one of the wineries built a castle out there. I know all the people who are here from Europe will probably be like yeah, whatever, we have a hundred castles within walking distance, but for those of us in the US it is quite different. This castle is the only functional castle in the entire Western Hemisphere, and it gets this because it has 4 things that are required to be considered an actual castle being a court yard, dungeon, dining hall, and a chapel. For now I will only have this one picture up of the outside of it, and I know the cars make the picture ugly, but it was too big to fit all of it in one shot and not have them. If anybody wants more pictures put up here let me know, I have lots, so just let me know of what you would want, ie corridors, outside, dungeon, dining hall, courtyard, wine facilities, knights room, etc.

A few pictures to give a better idea of the things here. First is a shot of the main entrance This is the kings dining hall. One of the towers that was "damaged" in battle, which means the guy who built it left it this way since he liked how it looked and he did not want his castle to be in perfect condition. One of the many stacks of wine bottles waiting for future use. The Iron Maiden in the dungeon, which is a real one that is several hundred years old. It was a fun sounding torture device where a person was put inside it and there were spikes lining the interior. It would close on the person, but the spikes did not pierce the skin. Instead the Iron Maiden would sit on top of a fire. As it got hot inside the person would squirm and get impaled on the spikes as a result. The comfy recliner chair in the dungeon. My butt was too big to allow me to sit in it, I am not sure if that is a good thing or not though. One of the rooms where they stores barrels of wine. The Knights Hall. The Knights were not of a high enough rank to eat with the king, so they had their own dining hall. What was fun in here was the arches along the ceiling. It was the most perfect form of arches ever done. What was fun with them is you could have a person on one side of it that would whisper, and a person on the other side could hear them perfectly. It was kind of like the two cups with a string phone we all made as a kid. The only problem with this arch though was that the weight was perfectly distributed, so if one of the supports got damaged then the entire thing would collapse. The main courtyard with the largest of the towers in the background.
