In case anybody is interested there was some videos released a few days back, along with the official announcement that it is being made. www.blizzard.com/diablo3/I watched the two videos, the gameplay one is long at 20 minutes, but has some fun parts. Only thing that bothers me is how Blizzard likes to make their games not look very real, ie WoW being cartoonish, Star Craft 2 looking like a bunch of toys running around, and now Diablo III looks very simple and dated to me already, but I will hope they change it and make the detail at least upto S2 standards, but they could just be going for a simple look so that more people can play the game with lower system requirements.

Are you kidding? Did you watch the skills videos? Holy hell that's awesome. There is so much freaking gore.
I thought it looked awesome. The only downside I've seen so far - well haven't seen, but I've heard rumor it's going to be p2p like WoW. I'm a little worried about not having potions - I loved Gauntlet Legends, but from playing Diablo for so long I just don't know how well it's going to work.

Blizzard's not that stupid... The online gaming market is not unlimited in size, and they already have WoW in it. Diablo has been free to play on B.Net since its birth... a p2p model would cause a riot in its fans. Why shoot yourself in the foot? But I guess their holding company can be very stupid, eh? And I agree Diablo3's awesome. I might not be paying it to play online, but as long as you can play SP and host your own open games (TCP/IP, LAN, etc.), I'll definitely buy it.

Yeah I'm not sure if I'll end up getting it or not... I did love the first two but the quest lines on them really didn't have any re-playability. So what made it fun was trying to build an awesome character, get all the best gear for it and play in groups online. But a LOT of the people that started playing D2 in the last quite a few years..... arghhh!!! Maybe it is just my region, but they went beyond ruining the game for me and sent me right into the gaming equivalent of road rage. I mean they were so beyond evil for absolutely no reason that there were times I wished I were smart enough to be a hacker so I could punish them in some way....

Actually that's how it is basically across the board. You just have to put them in their place, and surround yourself by the better people. However, the videos say the quest lines are going to be more in depth.. so when I get it... and if my computer will play it... I'll tell you if the quests are worth it.

Alright that would be good.... Yeah try as I might it got to the point that I wasn't ABLE to escape them unless I created a private game that only I could enter which kinda defeated the purpose

Yeah, I thought the gameplay vid looked pretty sweet. I'll probably buy it when it comes out. I've never played D2 online in bnet, just a few direct games with some friends. I play with the Eastern Sun mod, which makes the game lots of fun. Of course, then I discovered Sacred and its awesomeness. D2 is fun, but I love the not-so linear and awesomely huge world of Sacred.

I liked how Sacred scaled to your character's level(within set limits though), drops scaled to your level, and the more open environment. D3 will be just another game on VERY limited rails.

I was reminded today of why I disliked D2. Freaking b.net just decides when it wants to work and not. For absolutely no reason I got join failed 15 times trying to join/make games, on all my characters - and I reconnected/restarted between every 3 or 4 tries. I hope it is fixed in D3 *laugh*
*long sigh*
I don't quite understand the limitedness of diablo. Maybe it's just me, but I get rushed, then play wherever I feel like it... the only difference between that and Sacred is the whole getting rushed thing - which takes all of 10 minutes if the rusher is decent. In Sacred even though you could explore many different parts of the world - after a certain point it was pointless to go to them. Better exp was only available in one or two spots. There are a lot more quests in Sacred though- that is a plus... if you like quests. I'm not very story or quest driven so I don't even pay attention to them unless I need runes.
In D3 there will be a lot more character customization the site said. As it stands right now though there are plenty of ways to make a good character of each (except barbarian - but that will always suck in comparison to the others). I just hope they make each customization fair... or close to it.

Well see that is the main difference right there... Although there are many more types of players, for the sake of my point I am only using two... You have two types of players: Those that mainly care about how fast they can create an awesome character at high levels with great gear. And those that get really bored just doing that so need tons of quests and areas to explore to keep them interested. D2 is great for the first type of player but HORRIBLE for the second type. And you all know which type I am Although, my husband showed me the D3 site and some gameplay videos the other night and I have to admit they totally grabbed my attention

Well I don't know how I missed this thread, but I sure hope it was a very good reason why I did. Anyway not sure how much you people have found out yet, so I'll just try to adress som things. Last time I checked, D3 will not be p2p. The reason is it's not an MMO and having p2p for non MMO games is pointless unless you push out an expension every year or so, and keep making patches. Even though the art direction looks simple and dated, remember it's still under development, and I doubt we can expect a release anytime soon. I'd guess late 09 or maybe even sometime in 2010. I can't say I agree with it looking cartoonish. It's a lot more "real" than that. Even so people compare it to how D2 looks, and how much darker it is, but if you've stoped to think about it, D2 doesn't really have much of a dark look either. If you brought the graphics of D2 up to todays standard, it would look quite a lot like D3 actually. You've got green forests, bright deserts, and dark(ish) dungeons. Still people want it to me darker and more gothic like. But how fun would a game be if they use very saturated colors from beginning to end? It'd be damn boring. Just imagine if every part of Sacred was a forest landscape. It'd be boring as hell, but with islands, deserts, and places that looks like evil itself we have variation. Anyway enough about that rambling. Potions. The never ending potion fest, seen in so many games. It's not removed completely from D3 though, the health orbs will regenerate some of your life as well as anyone in your party. It's more of a heal after battle and go on thing. During longer/more difficult fights you'll have potions to rely on as well. At least that's how it was planned on being. Ofc everything can change, and lately I havn't paid much attention. As for the battle.net servers and dropping/failed to join game messages. It's caused by botters and dupers (mainly dupers). It's especially bad after a reset. For those who don't know, duping items is achieved through lagging the servers. I'm sure you have expirienced it on Sacred as well (I have at least) only on D2 it's a lot more secure. If an item is duped unintentionally, it will be flagged by Warden (anti cheat detector used for B.net) and both items (original and copy) will be deleted. But as always people find a way to circumvent it, and since Blizzard is not spending resources on upgrading the security, dupers more or less do what they want. D2 would probably be LOADS better if Blizzard actually spent resources banning people who should be banned, and upgrading security. Hopefully D3 will be on the new b.net 2.0 with better security and stability. For anyone who is interested, you can ready all about the questions and answers from the Q&A session during the WWI (Blizzard's World Wide Invitational), which was held in Paris, here.Btw when I say "alot of people" "most people"I mean those on D2/3 forums who constantly whine about everything they don't like about the game, just because what they really want is a new expansion with no major changes. Suprisingly enough, there are a lot of people like that

Welll since that time new gameplay videos came out and now character classes too they are also on the Diablo III site, and Im sure it won't be a p2p game and Im also sure about that I will buy it when it comes out. I've played D2 and it was awsome I loved playing that game, I liked building characters in them and doing the quests... Im sure they won't let me down with D3 it will be cooler then D2 they never really did bad jobs/games, all the Bliazzard's games are famous and good games, so D3 can't be worse then them only better. About the graphycs and things, yeah the graphycs won't be that high detail, they want to make the game able to play for a lot of people, as every of their games. But I wouldn't care about the grapyhics if the gaming expiriance could be as good as D2's or better. Im sure I'll buy it too, so I'll tell everyone in this site what's it like maybe I'll place some gameplaying vids and screenies and write about the game. looking forward to see Griff in D3 and play some with ya or anyone else that would like to.

I have played Diablo and all other Blizzard games since the beggining, and they would never make Diablo p2p, except if they make World of Diablo or something like that. but seriously don't think that will happen any soon. But i'm really looking forward to the release of Diablo 3. And hope it's as good as all other games by Blizzard, cause i have already bought/pre-ordered it.. Of my knowledge of Blizzard, they never release a game before it's finished. The release dates they set is just to build up hype around the game before they release the finished product. They have never been quick on making a new game or expansion. And don't think they will ever be either, they put quality before quantitie. Maybe that Vivendi/Activision will make them release a unfinished game. but hope that wont happen

From what I saw months ago I have every intention of buying D3, considering I have bought and played the rest of the Diablo collection. I am like Wolfe with the questing part, I love questing and S2 has alot of quests to keep me occupied.
