There are many interesting dwarven builds but i played only one of them. My Dwarf at closed MP is called St RÖTSCRECK and reached max lvl without too much trouble. He uses a Flamer build.
STATS:
First u need to choose which stat you want to raise: either Phys Regeneration OR Dexterity. Phys regen lowers regen times and adds HP. Dexterity improves defense (a little) and adds to Flamethrower damage. I will go with Phys regen.
SKILLS:
U need to have some certain skills:
Dwarven Tech
Weapon Technology
Constitution
Armor
Weapon Lore
Parry
the last 2 skills are your choice. There are some valid picks after your playing style:
Trade - I don't really like it. If you play a greedy Dwarf - and all Flamethrower Dwarfs are greedy u will get much better stuff from drops. Of u take trade DON'T raise it. 1 point is enough to max it at later lvls.
Forge Lore - Could be useful at lower lvls but its not necessary. You will be able to socket mf stuff into your gear. BUT if you want to use it at lower lvls then u need to put skill points to it. And those skill points will go waste because at higher lvls u could max this easily with 1 base skill point (like trade). My dwarf picked the skill.
Concentration - if u want to swing your axe (or any other weapon) from time to time you will need this skill then. Its absolute necessary if u want melee. Not a bad choice - it adds some variety to your Dwarf.
AXE LORE - A very good pick for a Flamethrower Dwarf. This skill is needed to wear Faldamar rings and axe. My Dwarf uses a Full Faldamar set what is the best thing to your Dwarf right after Greed. A full Falda set will shoot fireballs as you flame your enemies. It works nicely with Flamer.
COMBAT ARTS:
Greed - max this as soon as possible. It will help you to find great gear fast and in big quantities. Greed lowers your defense but with a enough leech (at least 30% but the more the better) AND with the constant use of Flamethrower AND the fireballs from Faldamars Axe AND with the help of your War Cry AND with Dwarven Armor u WONT NOTICE any reduction.
Greed has max 60 sec duration. This is the most important CA for your build.
War Cry - Raises defense and attack rating (for you and for your party). Raise it as high as u could. This is the fourth most important CA for your Dwarf.
Dwarven Armor - The Third most important CA for our new Dwarf. (after Greed and Flamethrower). It will give you a HUGE increase in FIRE and POISON resist at relative low lvl. Raise it as much as you could, but at least till 60-70.
Usage: Socket mostly Phys and magic resist ammys into ur stuff. Fire and poison will be handled through this CA. My dwarf has 70k resists when Dwarven Armor is active.
Flamethrower:
Using this CA u could go into to ways. Either keep it low and have a very fast recharge time. If u use it this WAY its IMPORTANT to use Faldamars Axe too. The fire from flamer will initiate many many fireballs from the axe so your main damage source will be the fireballs not your flamethrower. OR you could raise it a high as u want. Generally u will kill slower BUT u will kill bosses easier. Use of Faldamars Axe is advised with both way.
EQUIPMENT:
I use mainly Tharr Eross set because of the very nice MF (magic find) on it. Gloves are GREAT so is BELT and CANNON and SHIELD. Helm has a nice bonus to Greed (and such bonus is scarce). If u don't want the full set you could use any kind of armor. I would go with a many socketed rare armor with good resist (and/or bonus to RSM - regen special move). For shoulder guards and boots u could use what u want. I prefer the same as with armor. BOOTS - till you are lvling u could consider using the set dwarven boots that has a nice xp bonus on it (sadly i forgot the name )
The most wonderful thing in the Eross set is the ring!!!! Magic find and critical and large amount of bonuses to trade and forge lore. One of the best Set rings. As you progress you will find many of this ring. At least my Dwarf found a lot of them.
With this config your dwarf will be able to kill most of the enemies (not the fastest killer but good enough) AND have HUGE amount of Magic Find. St Rötschreck (my Dwarf) has around 3-3500 MF. (from equipment and Greed)
I wish good luck and many happy hours playing this one!
