You can buy a industrial strength freezer then, or see if Griff can get some LN2.

We made liquid N2 ice cream this year in physics. It was the best I've ever had (with the exception of last nights of course). It took a lot less time to make too. I hear it's not all that expensive anymore... like 30 bucks for a 10 gallon tank.... but I think you also have to buy the cryogen container too. That probably costs a pretty penny.

damnit, my physics class did not do something cool like that. I had no idea it could even be done with it. Now I really want to do it. I could probably just follow the design models for things people make to cool their computers CPU with it since its just a canister with lots of insulation on it.

It's a really easy recipe. You just put exactly your recipe into a bowl, pour liquid N2 and stir. It took maybe 5 minutes of stirring to get it to the right consistency, and you have to add N2 every once in a while to make sure it stays cold.

I do want to do this now, so more efficent then a slow freezer.

Way more expensive than using a freezer though... Making your own ice cream at all is expensive compared to purchasing a tub of it though.

I couldn't find a place to buy liquid N2 online... I use to know of a chemical supply store where I was going to buy Na+ but I can't find it anymore..

It might be to hazardous to buy online. Making your own should not be more expensive though. Its like 5 bucks for a little thing of Ben and Jerries, and you can make your own thing of like twice that for like 5.

We made a gallon... We had to buy 3 pints of heavy cream @ 2.50 a piece. We also had to buy cookie dough, milk, salt, ice, half and half, and sugar. I don't actually think we had anything to make the ice cream with. I think ti was like $20 total, but that was just the first time. Next time we'll have made ice for it, we have left over half and half, we'll have salt and milk. Maybe we can try to make less than a full gallon..

I don't think the machine is as effective if you don't make the whole load. Although this may be some trivial fact that I accidentally made up

I'm pretty sure it is. It would actually take less time and cost less if we made a pint or a quart....
