Not sure if you guys consider ceramics an art form but I paint them in my free time (not going to be much of that here soon with school starting for me for the first time in 20 years, LOL) and there are many new and unique designs out now.

I would totally consider it an art form... you should put some pics up!

It is art, I put up my videos as art, so you are in the clear.
I bought a big ceramic pot in Iraq for my parents that got smashed into a thousand pieces on its trip back once, but my dad put it back together, so it was all good. Other then that though I think my only dealings with ceramics would be the things you make in elementary school.

The painted Griffen is one I did last year that won first prize at our local fair in the ceramic hobbiest category.

This post has attachments. Login or Register to view them.

Well that certainly is a good job there, have anything else you have painted?

Looks great, do you paint things on request, or mainly things you like?

I do paint by request and for myself. It all depends on what designs I can get my hands on and what time of year it is.

And where do you get things to paint from?

Those are very well done! Thank you for posting pics of your work. I also paint ceramics, well, I should say I used to... have not done much lately. Do you have your own molds, kiln, etc.?

Area we have a store here that sells bisque plus I can shop for bisque on ebay or if my sister-in-law is in a good mood I can catch a few items from her.
Hal I wish I owned my own molds and kiln maybe sometime in the future I will.
Thank you both so much for your positive feedback on these few pictures. I will try to post more Sunday.

Wow those are great! Jeez, I'm jealous! I just LOVE all kinds of art forms and while I am pretty good at a bunch (definitely NOT drawing though) I am not very creative. I can get VERY good at the mechanics of making things, but the artistic part involving pulling creative ideas out of my own head is just impossible. LOL! For instance, I am rather good at knitting but I need someone else's plan/pattern to follow or I am great at making chainmail jewelery but I couldn't begin to know how to create my own weave....

I am the same way when it comes to Crochet and Cross stitch I have to have someone else's pattern, but with the ceramics I can look at the piece until it speaks to me and I see it alive with color in my head, then I put my idea on it in paint. I have messed the colors up a time or two, but the good thing about painting in acrylics I can just paint over it and work it out again until the vision becomes bright. I have a huge dragon on a castle that I have yet to start but I think I am going to when I have spare time in the new year, so maybe I can enter it in next year's fair.
I saw the pictures of your jewelry and I saw a few pieces I would love to get my hands on. You do beautiful work!!!!

All very well done, Celtickyrie! Thank you for posting your work. I am the same way when it comes to the ceramics, or any other art form. Anyway, I have a kiln, several hundred molds, pouring table, mixing tables, etc. etc. Unfortunately, since my back surgery I can no longer lift some of the molds or do the pouring and things so just stuck to painting.
