Vanquished by darkness, strengthened by light; Not within touch, but just within sight. ...Ŋє۱Єlєοѕ
My training and avocation is biology, so think biological - specifically human physiology. ;D
Hint the 2nd: All cats are gray in the dark.

korialstraz; Oh, good answer. But no. You can touch your shadow. I almost posted this, for which "Your Shadow" would have been correct, but I tho't of something far more diabolical...Ŋє۱Єlєοѕ I caper, mocking, in the sun; Leap and gambol, jump and run. Hide whenever light has passed, Always touched but never grasped.( I'll give everybody a strong hint after I let all y'all suffer a bit)

Pupils? They contract when it's dark, and expand when light is around.

I'm not sure if I got the complete meaning of the sentance:
Some difficult words imo, but seeing as DaveO guessed pupils (good guess), I'll assume the answer is something to do with the human body.
So... tan? It's vanquished by darkness, strenghtened by light, can't touch it, but it's within sight.
I was thinking of sight as well, as in ability to see. Which is also vanquished by darkness and strenghtened by light.
This is a real tough one, which is fun ;D

korialstraz; You've got the meaning of my hint But take care! This is something that is defeated(vanquished), not destroyed by darkness Tan - Nope, it can be touched since it's just a pigmented dermal layer. Sight - No, you have night vision, as long as the darkness is not total. But you are creepy close!

You can't see colors in darkness? Nope. You have binary vision: Cones in the retina give you colour vision and require a minimum light level, after which they no longer function. Rods, which overlap the minimum cone light level, are sensitive to lesser light levels, but only register shades of grey. Hence, all cats of whatever colour are (shades of) grey in the dark...Ŋє۱Єlєοѕ
